“The solutions we create allow our customers to improve the performance of buildings and installations in terms of comfort, energy savings, fire safety, acoustical properties, visual appeal, resource use or structural robustness,” says Vinay Pratap Singh, Sales Director, ROXUL ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation India.
ROXUL ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation (India) Pvt. Ltd. is a fully owned subsidiary of ROCKWOOL International A/S, Denmark which specialises in technical insulation for oil andgas plants, power plants and other industrial units. In an interview with B2B Purchase, Vinay Pratap Singh explains why ROCKWOOL products are preferred choice in insulation.
Today’s architects have numerous choices when it comes to specifying building insulation materials. Why they should specify stone wool insulation over others?
Yes, there are various options available in the market as far as insulation is concerned. But solutions for improved energy-efficiency, acoustic performance and fire safety in buildings and process industry lie in using stone wool for insulation. Stone wool is made from basalt rock which is plentiful and continually replenished naturally from within the earth. The earth’svolcanoes and plate tectonics produce 38,000 times more rock material every year, than is used to make stone wool from ROCKWOOL Group. ROCKWOOL products are easy and safe to use. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has left ROCKWOOL insulation products off its list of potential carcinogens following long-term studies showing no evidence of an increased risk of lung cancer from occupational exposure to stone wool fibres. With more than 60 years in use, ROCKWOOL insulation has proven to be the safe choice.
Could you brief us on the unique properties of stone wool insulation?
ROCKWOOL stone wool is inorganic and contains no nutritious substance. Therefore it is not attacked by microorganisms. Stone wool does not rot and also does not attract vermin. No CFCs, HFCs, HCFCs, or asbestos are used in the manufacturing of the company’s stone wool products. ROXUL ROCKWOOL Technical Insulation (India) Pvt. Ltd. is a fully owned subsidiary of ROCKWOOL International A/S, Denmark. It specialises in technical insulation for oil and gas plants, power plants and other industrial units. These industries have special needs for heat loss reduction, fire protection, noise absorption, protection of technical installations, energy saving and reduction of CO2 emissions. This product was created in accordance with the principle of fire safety, sustainability, acoustic comfort and durability.
Are stone wool insulations adequately efficient in terms of costs and energy savings?
We are committed to make products that provide durable, safe, reliable and beneficial solutions for our customers and other stakeholders. The solutions we create allow our customers to improve the performance of buildings and installations in terms of comfort, energy savings, fire safety, acoustical properties, visual appeal, resource use or structural robustness.
ROCKWOOL insulation is a major energy and CO2 saver. Despite the fact that the stone melting process is energy consuming, the use of ROCKWOOL stone wool insulation ensures a positive energy balance through its lifetime. Moreover, ROCKWOOL insulation helps protect nature from the impact of buildings, by reducing the amount of energy a building consumes for heating and cooling. Studies have shown that by using existing, well-proven energy efficiency technologies like insulation, 70 to 90 per cent of a building’s energy needed for heating or cooling can
be cut.
You have recently launched Hardrock Dual Density (DD) roofing boards. Tell us more on this product. Hardrock DD roofing boards are manufactured using ROCKWOOL’s unique dual density technology with a robust, high density top surface layer. This kind of roofing boards offerexcellent point load compressive resistance making it ideal non-combustible and acoustic insulation solution for most types of roof deck. Hardrock DD and ConRox are part of our India specific strategy to add value in our offering to the customers in the roofing and cladding industry for proper insulation with energy efficiency.
What are the advantages your Cladding Roll offers?
ROCKWOOL Cladding Roll which is specifically developed for use in light-weight cladding applications to commercial or industrial framed buildings is an ideal, economical solution for roofs and walls. Our foil face (aluminium faced) option has a high tensile strength suitable for vertical application. Fire classification A1, water repellency, chemically inert, outstanding thermal insulation and effective acoustic properties are few of the advantages of ROCKWOOL Cladding Roll.
Are you going to introduce any other product particularly for the Indian market?
ConRox provides an excellent structural core for factory engineered flat and profiled sandwich panels suitable for outdoor and indoor applications such as facades, walls, roofs, partitions, ceilings and heavy loaded sandwich panels. ROCKWOOL ConRox products are non-combustible with a melting point of approximately 1,000 C. They are particularly suitable for thermal insulation, fire protection and sound reduction or absorption. The company’s more recent development, ThermalRock S, achieves an A1 non-combustible reaction to fire classification including faced and unfaced variations. The excellent acoustic performance makes ROCKWOOL Thermal Rock Slab the ideal product for use as an acoustic material in internal partition, soffit slab as well as façade application.
