Demand-supply dynamic for construction aggregates
“The aggregate demand-supply dynamics for construction are now highly favourable. Although the need for construction aggregates is anticipated to remain strong, aggregate output is expected to increase significantly in the coming years,” stated Dr. Pierro Guizzetti, CEO of MB Crusher. Today’s crushing and screening industries face constantly evolving demands, so it’s critical to use cutting-edge technology to provide better, more user-friendly products. According to Mr. Raghavan, the output of construction and demolition (C&D) waste in India is expected to reach 150 million metric tonnes annually, according to the Building Material Promotion Council (BMPC). Challenges
Reaching a remote region without a concrete road is the major challenge faced in mining, and transporting aggregates from the quarry to the construction site can be highly expensive and unequal in terms of quality and quantity when there is no local supply of stone. To ensure a fair balance between aggregate output and the environment, several environmental concerns must be addressed.

Mr Deb states that most people in the crushing industry live close to mines where the raw materials are mined. They should also be close to the construction sites to save money on transportation. Lack of skilled labour is also a concern in this industry. Crushing units are, therefore, frequently found in clusters on the outskirts of cities when mines are also nearby. The crushing and screening industry needs a good electric supply to function smoothly; hence, the availability of a power supply in remote regions is a concern that requires attention.

Considering the challenges of this industry, R.S. Raghavan, Managing Director, Proman Infrastructure, states that the GOI has invested a lot of effort in infrastructure development as it is essential to the nation’s economy. Since the customers may potentially acquire financing from financial institutions, clarity and transparency in the GOI’s awarding of mining leases would encourage consumers to engage, which is essential for the industry given the sizeable capital investments necessary.
