Kennametal India will display revolutionary mining solutions at IMME 2024, including new robust picks, the Defender™ Round Drill Steel System, and KenCast™ wear prevention, which enhance safety, efficiency, and equipment longevity.

Kennametal India Limited will exhibit its latest tooling and wear protection solutions for mining applications at the International Mining and Machinery Exhibition (IMME) India, which will take place from October 23 to 26 at Science City Exhibition Ground in Kolkata.

The most recent product offerings include two new picks to accommodate a wide range of customer needs, as well as an innovative round drill steel system designed to increase efficiency and safety.

• PrimePoint™, a revolutionary pick with a polycrystalline diamond (PCD) tip, helps longwall operators mine longer. With improved hardness compared to standard tungsten carbide, abrasive wear on the PCD tip is greatly decreased, enhancing uptime.

• PlusPoint™ picks are designed to address specific needs and feature an extra-durable grade. These picks were created to penetrate even the toughest of rocks when continuous miner operators encounter unexpected geological conditions, decreasing downtime and tool usage.

• The Defender™ Round Drill Steel System addresses the safety issues that miners experience due to poor roof geology and water conditions. Compared to stackable hex steel, this innovative technology produces less dust and maintains a lower noise level:
  • Thicker circular steel that can be stacked and repaired, as opposed to upset steel.
  • Self-aligning, hands-free chuck and driver.
  • Spline-drive adapters transfer rotation to the inside hex of steel parts, allowing a machine to drill larger, longer holes more quickly.

Kennametal’s surface mining solutions will also be displayed during the event. KenCast™ wear protection systems can increase equipment lifespan by up to six times, avoiding costly maintenance and downtime. Additionally, the industry’s first taper tip for surface miners improves performance and productivity.

Kennametal will also demonstrate tooling and wear solutions for underground mining applications, such as continuous miners, road headers, longwall shearers, feeder breakers, drills, and roof bolters, which can help customers achieve larger gains.
