To meet the growing number of air passengers, the construction of a new terminal building of Belagavi airport has been proposed. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has issued a tender for the construction of the terminal.
The construction would include a new departure terminal building, and conversion of existing terminals into arrivals. According to specifications, the expanded airport terminal will have 2,400 passenger capacity, along with four aerobridges and parking facility for 710 vehicles. Associated facilities encompassing parking area, service road, new approach road from highway, utility box and others, will also be developed. The five-star rated terminal will be built at a cost of Rs 265 crore, and is anticipated to be completed in the next 24 months.
The existing runway 08-26 measures 2,300X45 mtrs., which is suitable for A-320 type of aircraft. For the runway expansion of the airport, the process of acquiring land is underway by the state government.
The bid submission will start on 27 November, 2023 and close on 12 December, 2023.
