Construction equipment manufacturer Akona Engineering Pvt Ltd is one of the renowned players in the concrete batching and mixing plants. Now the company plans to venture in to self-loading concrete mixers and concrete transit mixers to expand its presence. Excerpts from an interview with Ashok Kumar Malan, Head (Production & Sales), Akona Engineering:

What’s your opinion on the demand for construction equipment in India?
India is a developing country and a lot of development works needs to done in near future. Advanced construction equipment are required to execute the massive infrastructure projects. The organisations, which are engaged in manufacturing of construction equipment, have to do a lot of hard work to meet the need of future market.

Akona Engineering was established in 1992 with the manufacturing of small concrete mixer machine and today we are fulfilling the needs of many organisations who are engaged in road making and bridge building. We provide them all latest plant or machines including concrete batching and mixing plant, hot mix plant wet mix plant, stone crusher and other related construction equipment. Our machines are available with fully computerised modes.

How do you see your current performance?
Akona Engineering is performing well in the marketing and lifted the number of orders for concrete batching and mixing plant for the capacity of 60 cu.m. per hour and above category. Also, in the field of road work, we have got significant orders for our state-of-the-art hot mix plants.

Could you enlighten us on Akona’s performance vis-à-vis its competitors?
Every organisation, who got engaged in the field of manufacturing, does its best to present them with latest technology. In the same way, we have also done lot of hard work resulting the best satisfaction to our customers. Over the years we have bolstered our presence in the market.

You have significant clientele in government sector. How would you like to strengthen your position across the markets?
Government procurement system is very stringent and totally governed by the performance of plant or machines which includes different material test report, overall inspection and performance of machine at site on calendar or hours basis. An OEM, who has confidence on his product in terms of durability, strength and availability with comparatively latest technology, can only think of supplying his product to government organisations. Akona-make products have performed the best result in the field of construction equipment at different level of test, which causes us to become the part of leading supplier to the government organisations.

Today the industry demands the equipment with latest technologies and best after-sales service and Akona is way ahead of its competitors in these factors.

What are the new products we can expect from Akona?
Presently, we provide fully automatic computerised concrete batching and mixing plants (20 – 240 cu.m/hr), hot mix plant (30 – 150 TPH), wet mix plant (up to 200 TPH) and other related construction equipment.

Seeing the increasing demand for self-loading concrete mixers and transit mixers, Akona plans to introduce new self-loading concrete mixer and concrete transit mixer in the different capacity.
