CRI Pumps has recently completed a share purchase agreement with the shareholders of Fabbrica Italiana Pompe Sommergibili Srl (FIPS), Milan, Italy for acquisition of 100 per cent of the share capital of the company. This acquisition will enable CRI to innovate technologies in sewage, effluent, drainage and waste water handling solutions for municipal, industrial, residential and building applications. This is the second acquisition after its recent acquisition of Pumps & Process Systems Ltd., UK for industrial pump range.
FIPS has an established track record of performance in waste and sewage water pumps, across the globe. The company’s products have been known for its premium quality, high performance and efficiency and trouble-free operation. FIPS pumps range from 0.5–250 HP with vortex, grinder, single channel and multi channel impellers and discharge size from DN-50 to DN–400 mm. These ranges are available from 50Hz/ 60Hz in 2 pole, 4 pole, 6 pole and 8 pole with various material of construction to meet the demand applications and ably supported by its mixers, guide rail system and accessories to offer total solution.
As per Mcilvaine research report the waste water pump market is valued at USD 8 billion globally and is growing at CAGR 5.7 per cent for the period 2011-16. Municipal waste water plants contribute nearly 23 per cent of the end-user market, followed by chemical, power and refining industries. With China and India being the toppers in the list, Asia-pacific region is the key growth market.
In India, 3,800 crore litres of waste water is generated of which only marginal quantity is treated. The per capita water supply in India is 188.73 litres/day; of which 73 per cent becomes a sewage generation demonstrates the seriousness of the problem. By 2030, Indian water demand will grow up to 1.5 trillion cubic metres with supply only 740 bn.cub.m (approx.) which leads to a shortage of nearly 50 per cent. India is ranked 3rd in water pollution based on the deteriorating quality of water ranking. CRI estimates the market size of sewage and waste water pumps in India to be around ` 500 crores and growing at the rate of 15 to 20 per cent annually, as waste water treatment sector have huge opportunity.
CRI Pumps Pvt. Ltd. is one of the largest pump manufacturers and exporters with turnover of over Rs. 1,000 crores. Having sold over 1,70,000 number of star rated energy efficient pumps in India, so far CRI have saved over 300 million units of energy for the nation.
Speaking on the acquisition, Soundararajan, Vice Chairman, CRI Pumps Pvt. Ltd. said, “With the acquisition of FIPS Italy, CRI will be launching the complete range of sewage and waste water pump solutions in India. CRI is planning to invest in FIPS, Italy to strengthen its manufacturing and research capabilities.”
Orfeo Agostini, Managing Director, FIPS said, “With the takeover of the company by CRI, FIPS can further invest in new product developments to grow the global business while improving the profitability, by reducing costs through integrating the supply chain, making the products cost effective.”
