Demag Cranes has completed an important step as part of its mid-segment strategy focussing on the emerging markets with the launch of its DC-Bas chain hoist in China and India. Based on European standards, DC-Bas is designed to meet the exact needs of customers in these emerging-market countries. In the coming months, the LC-Bas light-crane system, the DR-Bas rope hoist, drive components, crane sets and complete cranes in various designs will be successively launched in the two largest Asian markets. As a second step, the Bas product family is also to be launched in Southeast Asia and Brazil. This is another important step towards achieving the medium-term targets we have set ourselves.”
International team of engineers develops products for balanced blend of cost-effectiveness and functionalityDC-Bas chain hoists feature a simple and reliable design and can be used as rugged user-friendly load handling products for a wide variety of applications. Mainly local engineers were involved in development to ensure that the chain hoist meets specific local demand. “The dynamics and customer demands in the market environment in China and India are quite different to those in Europe,” explains Thomas H. Hagen, Member of the Management Board and Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Demag Cranes AG. “Demag Cranes has already expanded its presence in both countries in recent years and established international teams which ensure a perfect blend of local expertise and European engineering.” The current market launch would not have been possible without this approach.
Utilising potential in emerging marketsIn its mid-term strategy, Demag Cranes aims to become an established player in the markets in China, India and also in Southeast Asia and Brazil. “We are already the acknowledged technology leader in all of these markets,” affirms CEO Rauen. Among other products, this is also due to the success of DC-Pro and DC-Com chain hoists, which have been used there as premium products for some years in industries that see intensive handling operations. With its Demag Bas product family, Demag Cranes aims to utilise the entire potential of these markets to achieve above-average growth there.
Functional solutions for reliable handlingThe Demag DC-Bas chain hoist satisfies high quality and performance standards. It embodies Demag Cranes’ approach to provide customers in the region with the benefits of combining local expertise and special market requirements with our “Functionality driven by German Engineering” philosophy. Customers can choose between four different sizes with maximum load capacities between 125 and 2,000 kg. DC-Bas offers outstanding value for money, is extremely user-friendly and simple to maintain. Thanks to simple attachment by means of a suspension bracket, the new chain hoist can be quickly put into service. Depending on customer needs, it can be supplied as a stationary unit or with a trolley. In addition, its compact dimensions and low dead weight make DC-Bas an extremely handy product.
Outstanding engineeringDC-Bas offers technical benefits that are unique in this market segment. For example, it features a long-life, easily adjustable conical brake and a one or two-stage gearbox with oil lubrication. A slipping clutch, which can be precisely adjusted, protects the chain hoist against extreme overload in accordance with international safety regulations. The chain drive arrangement and the galvanised round-steel chain are extremely resilient and wear-resistant. This market innovation is fitted with a robust and durable conical-rotor brake motor which operates with two lifting speeds up to 10/2.5 m/min and can withstand high ambient temperatures as well as heavy loads. The chain hoist is controlled by proven conventional contactors.
Choice between two ergonomic control pendants and two trolleysThe two rugged and ergonomic DSK and DST control pendants, which are fitted with an emergency-stop button as standard, are available for operation of the chain hoist. In addition, the control cable for two/three-axis operation features integrated steel wires for reliable strain relief. Demag Cranes also offers several solutions for operation on crane girders or profile sections. Customers can choose between a push-travel trolley and an electrically driven trolley, which can be operated with two speeds (5/20 m/min). As further options, longer hook paths as well as limit switches for the upper hook position can also be supplied.
