Leading experts from crushing and screening sector discuss the trends, opportunities and projected prospects for crushing, sand manufacturing and aggregates in the coming years.
The global crushing and screening equipment market was valued at USD 2,114.61 million in 2019 and is expected to expand to USD 3,969.92 million by 2028, with a CAGR of 7.25 percent from 2020 to 2028. The market expansion can be accredited to the increased development and infrastructure initiatives around the world. Furthermore, demand for these machines are driven by consistent innovation and development in crushing and screening equipment with technologies that help in reducing carbon emission.
Crushing & Screening sector at present
Growth in infrastructure and construction projects comprising building construction and other industrial applications is driving the demand for crushing and screening equipment. Here, according to S Raghavan, Managing Director, Crushing & Screening, Proman Industries, “The GOI has focused on Infrastructure development as it forms a major part of the nation’s economy. To cater to this demand we are having a strong crusher range that provides effective solutions to existing plants to increase their productivity, output quality and our modular turkey solutions, skid/wheel mounted plants are very popular with our customers.” “It will take time,” says Gopi Krishna More, Managing Director of Torsa Machines Limited, but we are on the right track now. Any infrastructure project necessitates the use of crushing and screening equipment. In addition, the Indian government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, has promised to give India and Indians with excellent infrastructure.
India needs around 5,000 million tonnes of construction aggregates in which 40-45 percent are crushed stone aggregates. With construction and infrastructure development continuing to grow in future, the demand-supply gap for aggregates is going to become challenging in future. While the ban on natural sand mining has opened up opportunities for manufactured sand, the use of aggregates from construction and demolition (C&D) waste will reduce increased dependence on natural resources and disposing of C&D waste.
Solutions for efficient crushing & screening processes
India has one of the world’s largest aggregate markets. It is rapidly expanding, and structural changes are taking place. The government has taken numerous measures to strengthen the infrastructure sector, which are ensuring that demand for aggregates remains stable. The aggregate market is estimated to be around 3.4 billion tonnes, and it will grow at a faster rate in the coming years, according to the industry.
If we look at the client requirements, they are unique with high quality expectations. Usually, a customer tends to analyse the advantages and disadvantages of each machine, equipment and the solutions before its selection.
Here, Raghavan highlights about Proman’s Technical collaborations with global leaders in crushing, screening and washing equipment like, PROMANREMco “Vertical Shaft Impact” Crushers & Vertical Shaft Grinders, PROMAN-ORTNER, PROMAN Washing Sand Group, Dry mix mortar plant, PROMAN PROjaw crushers, PROMAN PROcone crusher, and other series of crushing plants. He further emphasises on the very fact that their equipment are known to be rugged, versatile and produce great quality, shape and tonnage.
Whereas, Gopi Krishna talks about the prospects for equipment business in the coming years, especially in the post-covid scenario. He believes that companies have had time to reflect and spend time and resources in innovation during the last two years. Whether it is Crushing & Screening, mining, or earthmoving equipment, “I believe AI and IOT will play a key role in the equipment business. Business owners, managers, and equipment manufacturers, as well as the regular man extensively rely upon digital dada, because it can store history, making decision making easier and operations more efficient”, he adds.
Demand for aggregates and M-sand
The Indian sand market would have reached a volume of 833 million tonnes, and demand for sand is projected to expand by at least 6-7 percent year on year. Looking ahead, Sooraj Cherakut, Head of Sales & Marketing, Hailstone INC Limited, says that if we look at the specific figure, we can see that river sand, as well as manufactured sand, played a huge role in the market, but river sand is gradually being replaced by manufactured sand in various parts of the country.
Agreeing to Sooraj’s views, Raghavan adds that the demand for aggregates and manufactured sand (M-sand) has been growing at a significant rate, across India. We have ensured that our high-tech products and services bring more value to the crushing and infra development industries and by catering the world class standards in terms of aggregate and sand specifications to be met by various customers. “Our motto has always been “providing innovative crushing, screening and washing solution at the lowest cost per Ton”. In addition, there has been increasing customer preference for fine grade plaster or concrete sand and ready to use dry mix mortar products to facilitate this demand our PROMAN REMco Vertical Shaft Grinders (VSG) along with a special screen are capable of producing fine grade plaster or concrete sand and our Dry Mix Mortar Plant turkey solutions are well renowned.
Rise in growth of the construction industry, low transport cost of mobile equipment, rise in mining activities, and growth in urbanisation due to surge in population have boosted the growth of the global crushing, screening, and mineral processing equipment market.
The scarcity of fossil fuels and government regulations aimed at decreasing carbon emissions have increased the need for cost-effective and energy-efficient renewable energy sources like solar energy, which has fuelled the market’s rise. The global crushing, screening, and mineral processing equipment market is growing because to increased urbanisation and industrialisation in emerging countries.
In addition, fluctuation in raw material prices and strict government regulations and tariffs, are anticipated to hamper the growth of the global market. Furthermore, increase in demand for technologically advanced mining equipment is anticipated to provide lucrative growth of the global crushing, screening, and mineral processing equipment market opportunities.
Our motto has always been “providing innovative crushing, screening and washing solution at the lowest cost per Ton”.
