Tata BlueScope steel has recently worked for a project called Manav Shrishti Sansthan Parisar which is an educational institution at Solan, Himachal Pradesh. The customer’s requirement for the project was a seamless, column-free hall, which is 60 ft. wide with a total project size of 5300 sq. ft. and a structure that would withstand snow load and terse climatic conditions.

SMARTRUSS solution from EZYBUILD offers design flexibility with long-term durability and extreme load carrying capacity. It was chosen as roof support system along with LYSAGHT TRIMDEK 1015 profiles. The challenging here was to provide such a wide span with the given solution. Under normal circumstances the SMARTRUSS box section design would lead to sagging (deflection) at the centre, for the desired 60 ft. span. It required alternate thinking with innovation in design approach to address this issue. This was successfully achieved by Tata BlueScope’s team where they delivered a light weight high strength 60 ft. clear truss profile, using ZINCALUME sections that not only offered greater load carrying capacity but also aptly suited the climatic rigours in Himachal Pradesh.
