“inpod aims at changing the way that people have so far perceived the four walls, and has made building a house or office as easy as child’s play,” says Nilesh Jadhav, Founder, inpod
Carbon emissions from human activities have been on a rapid increase since the rise of the industrial age and have only seen an upward trend in spite of global efforts to reduce emissions and mitigate their effects on the environment.
CO2 or greenhouse gases given out into the atmosphere are what contribute largely to global warming, a phenomenon that is attracting growing concern from scientists the world over. India is no exception as it ranks fourth in the total emissions of green house gases (GHG) country-wise and as much as 6.8 per cent of these gases originate from the cement industry alone. The emissions of these gases from the manufacturing and construction industry in India have seen over a 50 per cent increase in the last decade, and show no signs of reductions for a long time.
With the exponentially growing demand for dwellings, alternative ‘green’ building and construction is the need of the hour. At a time when the mantra of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” is being adopted world over across the sectors, manufacturing giants are changing their processes to be more eco-friendly. Many manufacturing companies internationally are publishing annual sustainability reports with regards to natural resources. This practice is being adopted in India as well.
With today’s home buyers becoming more aware of the need for energy efficiency, the Indian construction industry cannot stay far behind to incorporate green and efficient energy consumption techniques. inpod has developed an inherently new and tech-savvy construction method which uses German technology and specially developed materials in order to make buildings more aligned to the three ‘R’s of conservation of resources.
Reduce
In case of inpod, centralised production makes the supply chain more efficient, as labour and materials are all concentrated at only one location. Only the fully built final product leaves the manufacturing site for the location of installation and use.
Controlled manufacturing methods increase energy efficiency and reduce human error to almost none; as a result of standardised practises, specialised machines and skilled and trained labour.
Inpod structures are low impact buildings and are installed with minimum intervention on the natural surroundings and environment on account of being fully built, ready-to-use, complete and lightweight, and are easily installed in any location.
Reuse
For the first time in the history of construction, buildings can be removed and relocated with the ease of using lego blocks, with hardly any disruption to the user and without compromising on its finish, quality, or in fact, utility.
Made from materials known for past 50 years, relocated and second hand inpod structures will remain as good as new with just a few touch-ups and very little maintenance during their lifetime. High durability, crack resistance, disaster resistance, hygienic surface finishes and extreme robustness ensure that inpod homes, offices, and resort rooms will not be damaged by extreme weather conditions or multiple relocations.
Recycle
The core materials used in the construction of inpod buildings find their source in the petroleum industry and can broken down into their constituents and reused by other manufacturing processes to make completely new and functionally different materials as well as end products.
Being modular in nature, the inpod modules or “pods” have standard dimensions and can be used for multiple purposes. So the same basic pod can be used as a part of a house, office, outdoor cabana or any other space that the end-user needs at that time in that place. With minimum modifications, pods deployed for homes can be easily converted into those needed for an office space and vice-versa, thus adapting easily to the changing needs of the market, and the consumer.
inpod aims at changing the way that people have so far perceived the four walls, and has made building a house or office as easy as child’s play. All of this, while ensuring that the eco-friendly, energy conscious consumer looking for luxurious spaces without the hassles of construction, can indeed have his cake and eat it too!
