Layher development engineers are constantly working on innovative new developments to make scaffolding even more cost-effective and safe.
For more than 75 years, Layher (a German company) has been synonymous worldwide with high-quality and practically tested scaffolding systems. Layher is present worldwide with more than 45 sales subsidiaries. The products are used for building and construction in various industries, like chemical plants, power plants, shipyards, and offshore. Due to innovative products, superior technical solutions, and Layher’s complete customer-oriented service package, Layher has become the standard in scaffolding systems worldwide.
All-round scaffolding uses a simple, unique, bolt-free connection technology.
Sliding the wedge head over the rosette and inserting the wedge into the opening immediately secures the component. There is still sufficient play to secure the other end of the ledger.
The unique combination of positive and non-positive connections in rapid bolt-free system technology with Auto Lock function permits links that are automatically right-angled, obt use angled, and acute-angled as required, with built-in safety at the same time. Layher All-round Scaffolding has become a synonym in the marketplace for modular scaffolding.
As work scaffolding and safety scaffolding at the façade, as birdcage, trestle and suspended scaffolding, or as a rolling tower—the right frame at all times and for every job and requirement. For complicated ground plans and anchoring conditions, very irregular structures, and jobs with increased safety requirements.
Tower Scaffolding using All round scaffolding for bridge repair and maintenance
With its unbeatable adaptability, All round Scaffolding is the perfect choice for very irregular structures. Particularly in the case of projections, recesses, and niches, the advantages of All-around scaffolding come to the fore. All work can be performed efficiently using All-round Scaffolding. As work and protection scaffolding for bricklayers, concrete workers, carpenters, plumbers, roofers, plasterers, and painters, All-round Scaffolding caters for many different requirements all at once.
For economic reasons, the Lahn Valley Bridge near Limburg, Germany, requires rebuilding to cope with increasing traffic volumes. When the temporary concrete piers stabilise, the superstructure is no longer needed. Once the bridge is completed, it is demolished from the top downwards. All-round Scaffolding is used to do so. Using the bolt-free wedge head connection method, the 50 metres work scaffold can be rapidly assembled and dismantled as the demolition work progresses. This can be adapted to geometry and site requirements thanks to differing standard lengths and matching expansion parts.
Use a platform stairway tower to reach men and materials up to 50 metres safely. Furthermore, a distinction is made between independent access structures anchored to the building and access structures integrated into the scaffolding. Both unidirectional and alternating stairway arrangements are possible. With the platform stairway, it is simple to construct a 4-standard stairway tower, either integrated into the scaffolding or as a free-standing access structure anchored to the building. Both parallel and opposite stairways are possible here. There is no hindrance to working on scaffolding with this version. All-round Scaffolding from Layher is made up of more than just standards.
During the construction of the bridge over the Aftetal valley, part of the local bypass for the Kneipp spa resort, Max Bögl, as the construction company responsible, had to build temporary stair towers for each of the six bridge piers as a “second escape route” – section by section to keep pace with building progress. The stair towers, at up to 66 metres in height, were put up with a clearance of up to about 5 metres and anchored only underneath the climbing formworks that the latter would not be affected. This meant that particular attention had to be paid to the safe transmission of the horizontal loads. The solution to that was the All-round modular stair tower. The latter can be not only preassembled section by section on the ground and then quickly put up by crane to keep pace with progress but also flexibly adjusted to suit site requirements, thanks to its combinability with the All-round System. Since the formwork cycles in this project did not always match the connection points of the site stair tower modules, an All-round Scaffolding Bay was constructed on the outside to transmit the horizontal loads into the stair tower. The Layher easy-access comfort stair ensures footing during ascents and descents—even when carrying work materials.
Brackets
Widening of scaffolding can be easily performed by fitting Brackets in the rosette on the standard. On top of the structure, the Console Bracket is used to widen the working area safely. All working platforms are steel, hot-dip galvanised perforated, with a non-slip working surface perforated sheet with anti-skid and locked with a ledger for safety. Load The working platform’s bearing capacity is 2.5 KN/m2.
Benefits at a Glance:
- Higher fitting performance and more shipping space due to special high-tensile steel and constructive improvement, reducing the weight of components and raising loadbearing capacity.
- No more time-consuming fitting of spigots and double storage due to a single standard with an integrated spigot for supported and suspended scaffolding.
- The integrated scaffolding system for easy and complicated applications is fully combinable with all previous generations. Maximum investment protection due to long durability, purchase availability for decades and continuous enhancements.
- Improved working safety and timesaving on assembly thanks to the Auto Lock function. Layher development engineers are constantly working on innovative developments to make scaffolding even more economical and safer. Our focus here is on the influencing factors for assembly performance, such as weight, shape, and the number of components. We constantly search for new materials and production processes to achieve this. Assembly, dismantling, and transportation account for 80 percent of scaffolding service costs. Studies have shown that by reducing component weight, our customers can considerably enhance their assembly and dismantling performances and use their transport capacities more efficiently. This is where our new Layher Lightweight philosophy comes to the fore.
Mobile work platform using All-round FW system
There was also a focus on economic efficiency regarding the various temporary structures. For example, a work platform was needed to allow the fitting of steel beams to some sections of the bridge underside – at more than 50 metres up. There were some challenges, as Roland Has sert – the head of construction applications at Layher – explains: “The work platform was intended to permit working at great heights in comfort and safety while being efficient to assemble. We had to consider that there was no space to put up scaffolding due to the river and that anchoring it on the structure was not permissible. Standard scaffolding, or scaffolding suspended and anchored over the entire bridge surface, was therefore ruled out right from the start– for cost reasons too. The alternative was mobile scaffolding suspended from a trolley in the gap between the two superstructures and moved to keep pace with construction work”.
