The company supplied specially designed luminaire requirements for Rajdhani Express, Shatabdi Express, “Palace on Wheel” EMUs, Kolkata Metro, Jaipur Metro, Bangalore Metro, and Delhi (DMRC).

“The sleek polar lighting solution is a contemporary design that is both timeless and unique in its impression. Compact without visible mounting equipment and optimised integration, polar lighting is in perfect continuity with the geometric lines of the square column,” Sharmila added.

LED: The future of lighting
LEDs are revolutionising lighting fixture and lamp markets across the world. Indian market for LED is also opening up. Commenting on the market status, Sharmila said, “With a declining trend in the imports from China, expected price reduction due to the scaling up of LED consumption, we foresee stabilisation of demand for locally manufactured luminaires at a highly competitive pricing.”

Seeing the market trends, K-Lite is increasing focus on LEDs. According to Sharmila, “Except for a limited series with MH lamp in outdoor fixtures and CFL lamps in indoor fixtures, the entire luminaires are now demanded under LED portfolio only. More than 80 per cent of the demand and our production during the current year will be under LED portfolio category.”

Manufacturing facility
K-Lite is based in Chennai due to which the company faces challenges in terms of logistics and delivery constraint for supplying to meet the requirements of northern markets where demand is high. Thus the company has put up manufacturing plant in Bhopal. She adds, “We plan to introduce latest automation in the production process for scaling up the production to achieve the price target and delivery on call.”
