  While the concept and the applications emerge from core of civil engineering, it is ‘Modular’ solutions which have become most visible technological development in the scaffolding and formwork segment. “The concept has been helping to develop design solutions which ensure economic, safe and quick erection and dismantling of scaffolding and formwork covering all types of constructions, be it residential, industrial or other infra projects,” says Ashok Mandal, Director, Ajay Maini Group of Companies.

Besides choosing the appropriate raw materials for producing critical components, adapting the correct manufacturing or welding technologies and skilling of the manpower are other major contributors for improving the products, systems and services.

Incorporation of technology and processes
One of the pioneers in India of modern scaffolding and formwork systems, Ajay Maini has been innovating and adapting technologies such as ‘Modular concepts, choosing the appropriate raw materials like aluminium alloys 6061: T-6 and 5052: H-34 for Maini Aluminium Formwork System (MAFS), overhauling the manufacturing processes, particularly welding and skilling the workforce for better deliverance.

Latest development
Talking about the latest development in scaffolding and formwork, Mandal says, “We have developed very economical and safe quick erect scaffolding system for boiler maintenance. To prove our capabilities, recently we simulated a major part of such a system along with test set-up, in our state-of-the-art Bawal (Haryana) Plant for Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL), Trichy and got the same approved with a certificate of qualified and approved vendor. And all these are being done with an eye for the future because we believe that the next biggest growth opportunity in our planet is in India.”
