Kryton Buildmat Co. Pvt Ltd specialises in integral crystalline waterproofing technology. Anandita Kakkar, Deputy General Manager, Kryton Buildmat Company Pvt Ltd says, “Our products work from within the concrete. Once added in to the concrete as admixture or coatings, our products fill small capillaries and holes with needle like crystals to stop the ingress of water. Krystol Internal Membrane, Krystol T1 and Krystol T2, Krytonite Swelling Waterstop and Krystol Plug are some of our products.”
Why Kryton?
Explaining about what are the salient features of Kryton, Anandita said, “Our product has been used, approved and appreciated by countries across the globe. It has been tested in more than 40 countries and has passed all national and international certification, in fact setting the standards for many.” She feels that the industry has been buying their products for mainly 3 reasons- their work, the fact they are producing in India and they are the best in the crystalline technology.
Throwing more light on the topic, Anandita says, “The Krystol Technology is the only crystalline technology that is hydrophilic and a true PRAH. Because of these Hydrophilic and PRAH properties Kryton products are the only where the crystals are not consumed all at once like in the case of hydrophobic materials as specified in the same ACI document ACI 212.3R-10. The chemical involved needs unhydrated cement and water to to react and so, with this technology crystals stay dormant for as long as there is concrete in the structure and then when there is ingress of water, these crystals travel towards the water and block all the porosity and bridge cracks of up to 0.5 mm. This makes us unique and gives our product an edge over others.”
Recent innovations globally
According to Anandita, the market has seen a great expansion. “Architects, builders, contractors are now global and so they want to work with products that have been proven globally. We have specifications coming to us now, that were unheard of till 10 years ago. Research and development has also stepped up. Solutions are getting smarter and quicker. As the global need is time, money and space saving, the solutions developing are sticking to the brief.”
Anandita feels that the green solutions have become the biggest change. With the with governments pushing the industry to go green and use methods and technologies that will leave a cleaner future, the research on more environment friendly and durable products has seen a quantum leap and we expect this section of the industry to grow radically. “We are working in a dynamic field and interesting times are ahead of us,” says Anandita.
Procurement Practices
Anandita feels that procuring the best products from across India at the most economical prices helps them to stay competitive in the market. It also creates a value for their product. Anandita says, “Because these are locally sourced they work better with the Indian site requirements. Each and every source is checked and verified and all material goes through strict BIS specified tests.”
“Through our procurement, we are also able to gauge the market and it’s needs and makes it possible for us to create by launching new products which are required in the market,” she concludes.
