Dinesh Rajaiah, an employee at The Ramco Cements Limited has won 3 Bronze medals, one each in Men’s Singles SL3category, Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4 category, and Mixed DoublesSL3-SU5 Category at the Uganda Para-Badminton International 2022.
The Indian High commissioner at Uganda, Shri A Ajay Kumar, felicitated Dinesh Rajaiah and other members of the Indian team by giving appreciation certificates at the Indian High Commission, Kampala, Uganda. The championship was organised by the Badminton Confederation, Africa under the aegis of the Badminton World Federation (BWF) at Kampala, Uganda from September 13, 2022, to September 18, 2022.
191 players from 20 countries around the world participated in the tournament in 21 different events. The Indian team won 42 medals including 12 Gold, 14 Silver &16 Bronze. Dinesh entered the quarterfinal in Dubai Para-Badminton international 2022 held in May and also in Indonesia Para-Badminton international 2022 held in late August.
Dinesh started his journey in 2017when he participated in Ramco Cements’ inter-unit Badminton tournament. “When I started, I never thought I will represent the country in international tournaments. It’s been an incredible journey so far and I thank Ramco Cements for the encouragement and support” says Dinesh. The next Paralympics is going to be held in France in 2024.The qualifying rounds for this will begin in January 2023.
