Ramco Cements’ RR Nagar (Virudhunagar) plant recently hosted the 30th Mines Environment and Mineral Conservation Week celebrations in 2023, which was a grand Tamil Nadu state-level function under the aegis of the Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM).
The function was graced by Mr. V. Jayakrishna Babu, Controller of Mines, South Zone, IBM, Bengaluru, as the Chief Guest, along with other dignitaries such as Mr. G.C. Sethi, Regional Controller of Mines, IBM, Chennai Region; Mr. S. Ramalingam, President (Manufacturing), Ramco Cements; and Mr. K. Saravanan, DGM (Mines), Ramco Cements, among others from the IBM, Cement Industry, and mine owners.
A souvenir from the Mines, Environment and Mineral Conservation Council was released during the event, which also witnessed the presentation of awards for mine performance. Ramco Cements’ Sivalarpatti mines won the first prize in three categories, namely afforestation, mineral beneficiation, and overall category, and the second prize in the sustainable development category.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. V. Jayakrishna Babu, Controller of Mines, Indian Bureau of Mines emphasized the importance of mineral conservation, protection of the environment, and sustainable development. On this occasion, inter-mines competition for employees of various mines viz. Slogan contests, Quiz, Speech, and Song Competition were held, and prizes were distributed to the winners.
