Vikas Tijaria, Director, Tijaria LED Industries
Tijaria is a renowned name in textile and plastic industries. Could you briefly tell us about your journey in the field of LED?
Tijaria LED Industries (TLI) is running under the flagship of Tijaria Polypipes Ltd and after its incorporation in 2015, the company has set a benchmark in the field of energy efficient LED lighting fixtures and solutions. Today, we are deploying innovative strategies, systems and technologies to revolutionise LED based lighting fixtures and solutions.
Inspired with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Make in India”, TLI is on the way to reach with its LED bulbs to every nook and corner of the country.
We manufacture wide range of LED products for indoor, outdoor and industrial applications including LED bulbs, LED tube lights, LED panels (square & round), solar LED streetlight, LED COB (Chips on Board) light, LED concealed light, LED surface bolt, LED downlight and floodlight. Very soon, TLI is going to launch various type of LED fans for the Indian market.
In the recent past, we have been associated with various government and semi-government agencies to enhance our business.
How significant is your presence in the Indian LED market?
India, being the second most populous country in the world and fifth major electricity consumer, has been experiencing an ever-widening demand-supply gap in electricity. Tijaria LED products are designed to save power up to 80 per cent which is very significant in the context of Indian power sector because we believe one unit of electricity saved is equivalent to one unit of electricity is generated.
Our motive is to make the world more beautiful by offering LED lights of different colours and patterns that can change the beauty of our surroundings while saving power.
What’s your market share?
Though TLI is comparatively a new player in the LED market, our initial market share is satisfactory, and we are continuously increasing our presence. Recently, we have signed MoUs with some state electrical authorities and some are in pipeline.
What makes your LEDs energy efficient?
Lighting alone in India consumes 18 per cent of the total power generated. Changes in consumption patterns can lead to saving energy and better and efficient utilisation of the same.
Further, our LED products emit light in a specific direction, reducing the need for reflectors and diffusers that can trap light. This feature makes our LEDs more efficient for applications such as recessed downlights and task lighting. With other types of lighting, the light must be reflected to the desired direction and more than half of the light may never leave the fixture.
Do you see any shift in LED demand during the past couple of years?
At present, due to the government initiatives, there is an increased awareness towards energy saving schemes and today people understand the benefits of LED based lightings and are speedily adopt it.
The Indian Prime Minister’s vision of “Make in India” and liberal taxation policies like GST are helpful to boost up the Indian LED manufacturers and provide protection from imported goods. That’s why Indian manufacturers are capable to provide quality LED products at low price which increases the buying power of Indian customers.
Moreover, demand of LED products is not limited to domestic use like lighting and decoration. There is huge demand in industrial as well as government departments like solar powered streetlights, downlights and floodlights. The prices of LED products have been falling steeply year-on-year, which has led to increase penetration of LED lighting products in India.
India is a huge market and it provides huge opportunity of growth and development for LED manufacturers as well as consumers.
