VishnuSurya Projects enters waste management sector
.

VishnuSurya Projects and Infra Limited (VSIL), a prominent player in India’s construction and infrastructure sector, has made a significant stride by venturing into the waste management domain through strategic collaborations.

These partnerships, formalized via Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with Hitachi Zosen India Private Limited and AG Enviro Infra Projects Private Limited, signify VSIL’s proactive approach towards addressing critical challenges in waste management.

With its extensive experience in infrastructure development, particularly in Waste-to-Energy plants, VSIL is well-positioned to contribute effectively to this sector. Hitachi Zosen India Private Limited, serving as the Indian subsidiary of the globally renowned Hitachi Zosen Corporation, brings invaluable expertise in the global waste management landscape. Meanwhile, AG Enviro Infra Projects Private Limited, a Mumbai-based industry leader in waste management, offers localised insights and operational excellence across India.

The context for this collaborative effort is the pressing waste management scenario in Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC), where a substantial portion of solid waste remains unprocessed daily. The reliance on Perungudi and Kodungaiyur dumping grounds has strained resources and raised environmental concerns. The lack of adequate infrastructure compounds the issue, exacerbated by the city’s burgeoning population.

VSIL’s entry into this sector, alongside its partners, aims to provide sustainable solutions tailored to Chennai’s waste management challenges. The envisioned MOU empowers the consortium to harness their collective strengths in pursuing innovative integrated waste management projects. Their initial proposal targets GCC’s Phase-1 plan for an Integrated Waste Processing Facility project, valued at Rs 1268 crores, with a 20-year operations and management tenure.

Sanal Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of VishnuSurya Projects and Infra Limited, underscores the imperative of sustainable approaches in tackling waste management. He emphasises the consortium’s commitment to leveraging their expertise in Waste-to-Energy technology to support Chennai’s ambition of achieving 100 percent waste processing. Through collaboration with GCC, the consortium aspires to contribute significantly to a cleaner and more sustainable future for the city.

In summary, VSIL’s partnership with Hitachi Zosen India and AG Enviro Infra Projects underscores a shared commitment to delivering efficient and sustainable waste processing solutions for Chennai. This collaborative endeavor signifies a proactive response to the city’s waste management challenges, reflecting a broader dedication to environmental stewardship and urban sustainability.
