Next product launch as part of mid-segment strategy; European engineering, tailored to meet local requirements
With the launch of its DR-Bas rope hoist, Demag Cranes is further expanding its range of products that are specifically designed to meet the demand of the Indian and Chinese markets. Following the introduction of the DC-Bas chain hoist, customers can now benefit from another hoist unit in the Bas product family as part of our mid-segment strategy. At the same time, Demag Cranes is also launching Bas crane sets from the Bas product family, which, besides the DR-Bas rope hoist, also include drives and the complete electrical equipment for crane installations. All crane components supplied with Bas crane sets are perfectly matched and can be assembled on the plug-&-play principle. “We aim to add further products to our Bas product family this business year,” explains Aloysius Rauen, CEO of Demag Cranes AG. “Our activities clearly focus on local customer and market requirements.” This goal was already reflected in the first steps of the strategy. All products in the Bas family have been developed by international teams of engineers, thus representing a perfect blend of local expertise and European technology.
Consistent implementation of growth strategyThe launch of DR-Bas is the next step in the implementation of Demag Cranes’ growth strategy that is focused on India and China. This aims to offer crane and lifting solutions tailored to meet the needs of customers in all segments and sectors of industry. Thanks to its premium products such as the DR-Pro and DR-Com rope hoists, Demag Cranes is already the recognised technology leader in the world market. With its Demag Bas product family, the company aims to achieve above-average growth in the attractive mid-segment. The goal is to supply customers a complete range of products and services in their markets.
Versatility thanks to three sizes and four designsDR-Bas units can be supplied in three sizes DR-Bas 3, DR-Bas 5 and DR-Bas 10 with maximum load capacities of 4, 6.3 and 12.5 tonnes, respectively. The four designs make them particularly versatile hoist units for a wide variety of crane and other industrial applications. Besides the two monorail travelling hoists EUDR-Bas (standard-headroom travelling hoist) and EKDR-Bas (low-headroom travelling hoists) for single-girder overhead travelling cranes, customers can also benefit from the EZDR-Bas double-rail crab and the FDR-Bas foot-mounted hoist unit. EZDR-Bas is designed for use on double-girder cranes with higher load capacities and larger spans, while FDR-Bas can be easily integrated into prepared structures, such as in lifts and lifting appliances and special crabs.
Advanced engineering in all componentsThe sophisticated technology employed in DR-Bas is utilised in all of its components. For example, its cylindrical-rotor motor offers low-noise operation and a high duty factor, classified to FEM, at various speeds. The same high standard of quality is also displayed by the three-stage helical gearbox, which provides for low-wearing and low-noise operation and is lubricated for life. The rope hoist is fitted with a DC brake with brake-release monitoring, which responds immediately thanks to the integrated brake control module. Thanks to its rope lead-in arrangement comprising hardened pressure rollers mounted on anti-friction bearings, the rope guide, which is made of tough plastic, can accommodate inclined pull at angles of up to 4° without any contact and ensures reliable operation even in critical ambient conditions.
The modular electrical equipment is clearly laid out and incorporates tried and tested conventional contactors. Overload protection is provided electronically via a load-measuring pin in the rope-retaining crosshead. The high-precision geared limit switch ensures that the hoist unit is switched off in the limit positions. Upper and lower emergency cut-off and fast-to-slow limit-switch cut-off fitted as standard provide for even greater safety. An optional operating limit-switch function can also be supplied.
Focus on customer benefitsThe user-friendly DR-Bas design is also reflected by its cable-connected control pendant, which can be used to operate the hoist with two speeds. Like the control pendant, the bottom block features a particularly ergonomic and user-friendly design for simple load handling thanks to two handle recesses and a generous hook opening.
