Construction Chemical International Seminar branded C3 was held in Delhi on March 8th and 9th, 2013 and attended by about 400 delegates. C3 was inaugurated by chief guest Dr Tushar A. Chaudhary, Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways, the Government of India. The unique seminar covered the effective use of construction chemicals for enduring structures in construction chemicals.
In a glittering inaugural session, Samir Surlaker, President, Construction Chemicals Manufacturers Association, welcomed all and invited delegates to play an interactive role. Dr Chaudhary in inaugural address told the audience as well as CCMA members about the tremendous growth of infrastructure in India. Dr Chaudhary stressed that prevention was better than cure. P. P. Shrivastav, Member, North Eastern Council, explained the situation in North East and invited CCMA to participate actively in the progress of that region.
C3 was addressed by over 10 international speakers from BASF, Sika, Chryso, MC-Bauchemie etc. as well as Indian experts from construction chemicals field. The program was excellently blended and fully technical and participants appreciated the dissemination of knowledge. The main aim of CCMA to spread awareness was met. The sessions were chaired by eminent professionals like Dr. Swarup of CIDC, S. P. Banwait of CED 41 and Arora of NCCBM whose opinions and suggestions were well received.
Not resting on laurels, CCMA plans seminars all over India. A handbook is planned on the right use in collaboration with Indian Concrete Institute. Attempts are already on the way to introduce the technical topics in the academic syllabi. Training programmes are in advance stages of design. With all this holistic approach, the industry is confident of growing from present revenue of about 2,000 crore to 5,000 crore in the next 2-3 years. This is absolutely possible considering the large gap in demand and supply. This growth is totally depended on the government accepting construction chemicals as recognised industry and backs it with incentives and rationalisation of the government taxes, duties and levies.
