Adani Group is waiting for a letter of award (LoA) from the Government of West Bengal to move ahead with the development of Tajpur greenfield port. The Group will be building the Tajpur Port in East Midnapore at an investment of ₹ 25,000 crore.

Last year, Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone (APSEZ) received a provisional letter of intent (LoI) for the aforesaid project. Further, the project required statutory clearances from the Union government from four departments – Ministry of Shipping, Home Affairs, Defence and External Affairs.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has accorded a conditional security clearance and made certain observations.

Currently, Adani Group is in talks with the state government to seek clarifications on some observations made by the Centre which granted a conditional security clearance for the project.
