Aerial Work Platform (AWP) industry in India has grown in leaps and bounds over the period of last 10 years. Although in terms of absolute numbers we still have a lot of catching up to do when compared to European and American Markets. However, one can also sense immense potential going by these numbers as going by the trend in the western market we will have rapid growth going forward for next 20 years.
The government has taken progressive efforts to push infrastructure development in the country and this will further boost the growth of Aerial Platform industry. The newly elected President of Aerial Platform Association of India (APAOI) Meghraj Singh says “The government has proactively brought in constructive and business friendly policy reforms that will propel the growth across the infrastructure sector, which is the backbone of economic growth of the country. However, in line with labor law reforms strict legislation on working safely at heights is also required.”
Talking at the 3rd AGM of APAOI, Mr. Singh also highlighted that, not only worldwide manufacturers are expanding production capacity in China but alongside the local manufacturers are also springing up to give competition. India being one of the largest and fastest growing economies should also fall on the same track but to do so serious steps need to be taken by the government. He also mentioned that APAOI is committed to raise the issues hindering the growth of the industry and also create awareness among the industry players for sustainable growth. The association has joined hands with CERA (Construction Equipment Rental Association), IESC (Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council) & COAOI (Crane Owners Association of India) to work together. In addition, APAOI is also holding operator trainings and cleared its second batch recently.
