Ambuja Cements, one of India’s most responsible cement manufacturers, has acknowledged that global road safety is a serious issue. As a result, the company places equal emphasis on safety on the road and within the organization’s walls.
The company began this journey many years ago and has since built strong systems and processes to ensure that its people and material transportation adhere to a zero-harm policy while on public roads. Ambuja Cements took on the challenge to make a difference because it believes that road accidents can be avoided and that no home should be destroyed as a result of this unwelcome event. In 2017, the company unveiled its India Road Safety Plan, which included a 5-year strategy centred on skill development and driving behaviour management, as well as plans to gradually upgrade vehicles while ensuring minimum safety fitments and a focus on journey risk management. The goal was to make vehicle movement safer, whether on the pathways inside its manufacturing plants or on the highways across which cement is transported across the length and breadth of the country.
