Dalmia Bharat Limited expands its cement capacity by 1 million tons with a new mill in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu, investing ₹ 204 crores to strengthen its position in southern India.
Dalmia Bharat Limited (DBL), a leading Indian cement manufacturer, has announced the installation of a new cement mill at its existing facility in Ariyalur, Tamil Nadu. This new addition enhances the company’s capacity by 1.0 million tons, bringing its total installed capacity, including subsidiaries, to 45.6 million tons. The brownfield expansion, which required an investment of ₹ 204 crores, is a strategic move to bolster DBL’s market presence in the southern region and meet the increasing demand for cement.
Commenting on the company’s expansion plans, Puneet Dalmia, Managing Director & CEO, Dalmia Bharat Limited, says, “We continue to focus on strategic capital expenditure, maximising on the region’s growth prospects and further enhance our market position in the South. Driven by robust infrastructure development, housing and investments, we anticipate cement demand to rise. This increased capacity will facilitate the growing demand in the Southern region.”
DBL has a strong foothold in Tamil Nadu with two integrated cement manufacturing plants located in Dalmiapuram and Ariyalur, and a grinding unit in Sattur. The company plays a crucial role in major infrastructure projects such as Bharatmala, the largest infrastructure initiative in the south, supporting vital transportation networks and regional development. Additionally, DBL has supplied specialty cement for airport infrastructure projects in Calicut and Chennai. With deep-rooted ties in the region, dating back to the establishment of its first plant in Dalmiapuram, Dalmia Bharat continues to be a key player in the industry.
This expansion is part of DBL’s ambitious plan to increase its total installed capacity to 110-130 million tons by 2031, aligning with its vision of sustained growth and market leadership.
