EPACK Prefab hands over Darbhanga Phase II to AAI

EPACK Prefab, India’s top Pre-Engineered and Prefab solutions supplier, announces the handover of the Darbhanga Airport’s Phase-II Arrival Area to the Airport Authority of India and collaborates with them as their turnkey PEB solution provider on the project.

The Phase-II Arrival Area handles up to 600 passengers hourly, even during rush hours. The Darbhanga Airport presently occupies a ground area of 3100 sq.m., with the additional area comprising 1,700 sq.m. adding to the existing spread of 1400 sq.m.

The expanded airport features: a) 15 check-in desks b) four security check lanes c) two X-ray machines for checked-in bags d) two X-ray machines for hand baggage e) Three conveyor belts and four boarding gates. These modifications are intended to greatly improve the passenger experience while also streamlining operations.

Within two and a half years of the completion of phase one, the airport’s passenger traffic increased fourfold from 2021 to 2023. The increased number of passengers at the airport following Phase I prompted the airport’s expansion with the Phase II Arrival Area project. The tender of the airport extension project was reclaimed by EPACK Prefab after they had efficiently finished the construction of Phase-I.

The airport created under the central government’s idea of the Regional Connectivity plan – UDAN, immediately became the best-performing airport within the plan, as it successfully fulfilled the demand and supply of the region, catering to the Air travel needs of people. With this, the city is ready to open up new paths for growth and development through investment, infrastructure development, and company expansion.

EPACK Prefab completed the project using Pre-Engineering Building building technology, demonstrating their experience in providing comprehensive turnkey solutions. The airport has a strong standing seam roofing system and durable PUF panels for the walls. These approaches ensure structural integrity and energy efficiency in the infrastructure.
