Current trends
Due to slowdown in overall construction activities, the procurement of scaffolding and formwork has been subdued. • Timely completion of project
• Safety and quality of construction
• Cost-effectiveness.

Factors drive procurement decision making
Speaking on the procurement drivers, Mandal said that the factors like asset building, safety at workplace, and quality of construction are the major factors driving the procurement decision making of scaffolding and formwork apart from pricing, productivity and durability.

Rent or buy?
Focusing on the factors a buyer should consider while determining whether to rent or buy scaffolding and formwork. According to Mandal renting of scaffolding and formwork can be a good option if numbers of work are being executed simultaneously. Short duration projects with very high requirements of scaffolding and formwork and short-term view of company’s future plans and prospects also encourage renting.

Buying of scaffolding and formwork is considered if there is a plan to build own assets and strengths. Long-term perspective of a company and eye on quality and safety should support buying, Mandal added.
