To meet the challenges of the construction industry, Greaves manufactures a wide range of compaction and concreting equipment. The complete range of concrete equipment such as transit mixers, concrete pumps, batching plants are manufactured at the company’s ISO 9001 certified plant at Gummidipoondi near Chennai. The company also manufactures the complete range of compaction equipment (vibratory soil compactors, heavy tandem rollers, and light tandem rollers) and wheeled loaders at the same plant, which also houses product development facilities.

The company manufactures a range of construction equipment, including vibratory compactors, and also manufactures and distributes Bomag compaction equipment. It has been manufacturing its 10 -12 tonne soil compactors under license from Bomag since 1989, while production of 8.2 tonne tandem rollers commenced in 1999. Production of the BW120AD-3 tandem rollers commenced in 2002. In addition, Greaves started production of a 19 tonne soil compactor in 2009 in collaboration with Bomag.
In addition to the manufactured products, the construction equipment business division markets Bomag’s asphalt finishers, milling machines, pneumatic-tyred rollers, soil stabilisers, and Mitsubishi motor graders.
Greaves construction equipment is mainly used for construction of roads, bridges, buildings and ready mix concrete applications. The service and spare parts requirement of customers are catered by the company’s widespread network and qualified and trained service engineers located a various branches and dealerships.
Greaves compaction equipment is manufactured at its Gummidipoondi plant near Chennai in Tamil Nadu which has an installed capacity to produce 1,200 machines. The plant also produces wheeled loaders and concreting equipment.
ProductionGreaves production of compaction equipment peaked at 531 units in 2007 with a growth of 47 per cent over 2006. However, the company has seen a decline in production thereafter due to the global economic crisis and the delays in award of the national highway projects. The production declined to 278 units in 2010.
