Blue Energy Motor’s first LNG trucks launched in collaboration with JK Lakshmi cements at a ceremony conducted at their plant in JK Puram, Sirohi. JK Lakshmi becomes first cement business company to use LNG trucks contributing to achieve net-zero carbon emission.
The country’s first green trucks powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) have started operating commercially for JK Lakshmi Cement, one of India’s top cement manufacturers. The first fleet of LNG trucks headed towards JK Lakshmi Cement’s clinker grinding mill in Surat at a flag-off ceremony at their Sirohi plant in Rajasthan. Senior management officials from both companies and other significant stakeholders were present for the flag-off event. As a result, JK Lakshmi Cement becomes the first cement business in the nation to use LNG trucks for long-distance raw material transportation.
Anirudh Bhuwalka, Chief Executive Officer, Blue Energy Motors says, ‘’Sustainability should not be a choice anymore, but a compulsory way of life. We are delighted to share our vision of revolutionising India’s green trucking industry with JK Lakshmi Cement. The infra industry is very closely connected to trucks, and such adoptions institute trust and instill confidence that will eventually pave the way towards a carbon-neutral environment. Our trucks have been designed and conceptualised, keeping in mind the Indian conditions and climate requirements. It’s the best immediate solution to pollution caused by the heavy duty-vehicle sector. With the cement industry giant joining hands with us, we are confident that more players in the industry will begin their journey of sustainable mobility and become part of our green trucking revolution”.
JK Lakshmi Cement Limited President & Director, Arun Shukla said, “Our country is aiming to reduce the carbon intensity of the nation’s economy by less than 45 percent by the end of the decade, and achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2070. JK Lakshmi Cement fully supports this vision and believe in sustainable and responsible growth that encompasses our society and the environment. We have taken multiple steps to reduce both direct and indirect carbon emissions. Deploying LNG trucks of Blue Energy Motors is our first step towards sustainable transportation as LNG is an excellent green alternative for fossil fuel. This initiative will act as a game-changer for the country’s cement transportation industry and help facilitate the eventual transition towards a more circular economy.”
With the release of the BE5528 tractor as the first model, Blue Energy Motor’s LNG-fueled trucks began to enter the market. The trucks have been engineered to provide best-in-class TCO with unequalled dependability and the most advanced telematics system for secure and pleasant long-distance travel. For best-in-class fuel efficiency and quieter operation than diesel engines, the BE5528 features a multipoint stoichiometric combustion engine from FPT Industrial. It is one of the most potent natural gas vehicles available in India, with 1000 Nm of torque and 280 horsepower. The BE5528 truck features the first 990-lt fuel tank in its class, allowing it to travel up to 1400 miles on a single fill. Given this great range, the range anxiety issues are well-cared for, and with the forthcoming LNG dispensing network, adequate coverage across important routes in the country will be available without the need for regular refills. The company may increase its installed capacity to produce 10,000 trucks annually as the economy develops and demand rises. It opened its first manufacturing facility in September at Chakan, Pune. The Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, officially opened the facility.
