The focus in procurement of projects has undergone substantial change over the last five to seven years. Customers have gradually moved from buying an equipment as cheap as possible to finish the project, to buying a product which is not only the best to finish the job in the most cost-effective and timely way but which also has the highest after sales value and service and application support excellence during the project phase.

“Over the last five-seven years, Putzmeister has been growing much faster than the market. While India continues to be a price-sensitive market, our growth and success indicate an increasing demand for value,” says Wilfried Theissen, Managing Director, Putzmeister India.

Delivering value is key
The company believes in offering utmost value to its customers. When customers invest in a Putzmeister solution, they get more than just the most suitable equipment along with quality service and application support.

“Our products are designed to ensure low maintenance and therefore minimal downtime. We back this up with a higher ratio of service engineers and technicians per customer to ensure an efficient use of the equipment and improve their profitability,” says Theissen.

The company believes in staying connected with its customers by anticipating their needs and requirements and improving their profitability. In addition to its stationary and truck-mounted boom pumps, it has introduced a slew of products to help meet the customer’s concreting requirements by introducing nine variants of BP with capacities ranging from 30 cu.m per hr to 120 cu.m per hr. Most recently, the company has introduced PM Transit Mixers P6 and P7.
Furthermore, Putzmeister has also introduced a range of plastering and screeding equipment to help customers meet the aggressive affordable housing targets and introduced a range of concreting equipment for the tunnelling and mining segment.

“We offer state-of-the-art technology on our equipment to help the customer improve productivity, safety, fleet management and preventive maintenance,” Theissen said.

Making procurement effective
Putzmeister offers solution to customers irrespective of their concreting requirements. From project planning, to providing the most suitable equipment, to operating and maintaining that equipment on the jobsite, the company can cover everything for the customer.

Talking about government’s Make in India, the initiative still has little or no impact on the value-driven project procurement since many of the critical components are still not available in India and therefore continue to be imported.

While India continues to be a price-sensitive market, demand for value is on an upsurge.
