JSW Cement Ltd, a part of $11 billion JSW Group led by Sajjan Jindal, is planning to expand the manufacturing capacity of its Dolvi facility in Maharashtra from 1 million tonne per annum (MTPA) to 2.2 MTPA by 2018 and launch an initial public offering (IPO) in 2019.
The company has commenced manufacturing of Concreel HD cement at its Dolvi unit in Maharashtra, a move that will help the company expand its retail presence in West India.
Future roadmap
Commenting on the company’s future roadmap, Parth Jindal, Managing Director, JSW Cement Ltd said, “Our roadmap is designed in a way to meet the vision of the 20 MTPA by 2020. We plan to do an IPO in 2019-2020 and build the company from 20 MTPA to 50 MTPA in the coming years. Our plan is to market heavy-duty concreel HD Cement through over 1,000 retail outlets in Maharashtra over the next few months”
Pushpraj Singh, Chief Marketing Officer, JSW Cement Ltd adds, “We have planned to increase out Dolvi Plant capacity by 2018 from 1 MTPA TO 2.2 MTPA and by 2019 to 4.5 MTPA so that we can cater to the demands in the regions we are launched.”
In the initial phase, Concreel HD will be available in the Mumbai, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Raigad region and then covering the rest of Maharashtra including key cities of Pune, Nasik, Ratnagiri, Satara in the initial months of 2018.
Plans Rs 1,800 crore capex
JSW Cement expects a huge demand for cement in the country and so plans to invest and expand its cement manufacturing capacity to 20 MTPA by 2020. The company is investing and adding 4.5 MT at the Dolvi unit in Maharashtra, 1.2 MT in Vijaynagar unit in Karnataka and 1.2 MT in the Odisha unit. “JSW Cement will incur capex of around Rs 1,800 crore which will be used in the next three years for capacity expansions. The first phase of expansion at Dolvi plant will take companies total capacity which will further plan to increase as the capacity manufacturing increases. We are planning to invest around Rs 1,500 crore in the two stage expansion plan,” said Jindal.
To expand Salboni facility post 2020
JSW Cement launched its newest manufacturing facility in Salboni, West Bengal. Located 160 kms from Kolkata, Salboni will house a 2.4 MTPA cement plant which will boast of manufacturing capabilities for premium PSC grade cement. “Salboni is catering to demands of West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand. We will increase the capacity of this plant post 2020,” Jindal informs.
Singh adds, “JSW Cement is looking forward to strengthening its competitive positioning in the cement market in India and become the largest manufacturer by launching its premium slag cement in the eastern market.”
