Kulkarni Power Tools Ltd, popularly known as KPT, is one of the market leaders in manufacturing roots blowers and has been committed to provide twin lobe and tri lobe roots blowers for over 25 years under brand name of “KPT BLOWERS”. Anil Suri, General Manager (Sales and Marketing) at KPT’s Blowers division expresses his views on the major innovations and Indian industry’s maturity level to use advanced water treatment technology optimally.
Current trendsThere is growing demand for potable water. The rate of using reclaimed water is gaining pace in India. Recycling of water and wastewater treatment involves a combination of technologies to treat the water and make it reusable or attain a safe standard for disposal. Commenting on the current trends in the procurement of water treatment solutions, Suri says, “Technologies such as nanotechnology, desalination and membranes have been widely used for water treatment depending upon the quantity and quality of water or wastewater and the available funds as per the specific use.”
Major buying factorsPotable water is a fundamental requirement of survival. However, Suri observed, until government encourages innovation in water treatment and the public and private sectors develop and implement these innovations, almost a fifth of the world’s people will continue to do without it. Talking about the major factors a buyer should consider before making decision of procuring water treatment solutions, Suri said, “A buyer should consider total cost of ownership, maintenance cost, running cost and warranty period offered while taking a final call.”
Major innovationsInnovations, new technologies and new developments are inevitable if the Indian market has to grow and compete with its global counterparts. The prime focus should always be towards the development of wide range of innovative wastewater treatment solutions. Speaking about the major innovations happening in the field of wastewater treatment, Suri informed, “Technologies such as nanotechnology, desalination and membranes are some of the major innovations in wastewater treatment.”
Not mature enoughExpressing views on Indian industry’s maturity to make use of advanced water treatment technology optimally, Suri acknowledges, “Presently Indian industry is not mature enough to use advanced technology as there are various factors involved in it.”
