The benefits can be used for state-of-the-art applications in the building material industry, says Country Manager Arun Madappallath.

Brief us about your offerings at Roof India 2019.
In Roof India 2019, we are showcasing a gist of major applications that is possible with our innovative product lines made of flexible composite membrane. Major applications like tensile architecture, fabric façade, shading applications and acoustic and solar protections applications like internal and external blinds are displayed.

How are your products making construction more sustainable?
Serge Ferrari manufactures flexible composite membranes with patented technology which is functional and sustainable. These products made with highly engineered technology ensures the sustainability of the environment by its optimal solar control and light transmission properties thereby cutting the carbon footprints. We are one of the few companies producing flexible composite membranes for building material industry whose products are certified for volatile organic compound (for indoor air quality), formaldehyde and aldehydes under permissible levels by internationally accepted Greenguard certificate of compliance.

What are the major challenges that the industry is currently facing?
In India, customers in building material industry are willing to consider innovative products with benefits both functional and economical, for which we have excellent membranes. But the membrane has to be accurately engineered to suite different applications, and customers have to appreciate the need for properly engineered membrane for specific application. The challenge lies here. Customers have to be educated on the importance of engineering process involved in converting the product to suit the application. The process involves multiple steps including optimal design and engineering of membrane, deciding the support steel structure using dedicated software, patterning and cutting using plotter machines, high frequency welding of membrane using sophisticated machineries and erection of membrane structures. While we are educating our new customers, most of our existing customers are aware of the importance of professionally-engineered membrane.

What makes your products different from the ones available in the market?
Our core competency is our patented Précontraint technology, which offers the best weight or performance ratio and dimensional stability over time, offering a solution to the natural resources challenge; do better with less and for longer. New generation cross-linked polymer membrane developed by Serge Ferrari meets the mechanical and aesthetical longevity requirements of the most demanding projects. Mechanical longevity is directly linked to the coating’s quality and thickness, which protects the yarns from the UV radiation. Precontriant technology coupled with cross-link PVDF top coat provides longevity of over 30 years.
