Any PEB building is a desirable combination of design, aesthetic and looks. Though monocoat paint technology is not new to the PEB industry world-wide, Indian players are not aware of this due to non-availability of such products. Of late, a few paint manufacturers have made this technology available in India in collaboration with overseas players.

Unique features
Paint is the most commonly used material to protect steel. Paint systems for steel structures have developed over the years to comply with industrial environmental legislation and in response to demands from bridge and building owners for improved durability performance. Previous five and six coat systems have been replaced by typically three coat alternatives, and the latest formulations have focused on application in even fewer numbers of coats.

Monocoat paint technology is a one-stop solution without compromising on durability and natural look. It eliminates the procedure of first priming the surface. This is quick dry paint – usually gets dry in 4 hours while the other paints take minimum 12 hours for primer and then again 12 hours for paint.

At the same time, industrial manufacturers need high efficiency coating systems that provide reliable protection and attractive appearance. It has excellent adhesion property over a variety of substrates when applied without primer. It has a very good gloss and colour retention property. It has excellent resistance to staining, scratching impact and abrasion. It provides a long term protection to the structure and is economical. It’s available in special metallic colours too.

Applications
Richa Industries was working to implement new monocoat paint technology in its system from past one year and recently they have used it in some of their prestigious projects. By using this technology the beautification of a building is enhanced in every way possible. Some precautions are needed while working with this technology such as; post mixture of base and hardener in recommendation proportionate, it needs time of 30 minutes induction period before application. Best results in terms of gloss and appearance can be achieved with conventional air spray application.
