The market growth for steel bars looks promising
.

“Today’s consumers of steel are looking for the best quality steel bars with value-added properties such as corrosion-resistant steel bars, epoxy-coated, earthquake-resistant and galvanised rebars”, says Sunil Kumar Agarwal, Director, Kamdhenu Ltd.

Which segments drive the demand for steel bars?

The key segment driving demand for steel bars is the construction sector. Real estate developers, as well as individual buyers in urban and rural areas, also use steel bars for home construction purposes. Other infrastructure projects such as bridges and highways also consume steel bars and contribute to the demand for steel.

What kind of designs and quality are the customers looking for in various projects?

Today’s consumers of steel are looking for the best quality steel bars with value-added properties such as corrosion-resistant steel bars, epoxy-coated, earthquake-resistant and galvanised rebars. Modern design and construction require superior bond strength and tolerance to stress.

What are the latest technologies incorporated with steel bars for improved performance and lightweighting?

Modern construction requires high-performance TMT bars that are earthquake-resistant and have high thermal resistance as well. To meet these performance expectations, Kamdhenu incorporated the latest TMT technology and world-class manufacturing process using high-grade pure FE500 & 500D. The TMT bars so produced have enhanced strength combined with high ductility and have excellent weldability and malleability that conforms to the latest BIS standard.

What are the key features incorporated in your product range for different applications?

Kamdhenu’s range of steel bars offers bestin-class properties. The ultra-premium quality alloy steel TMT bar – PAS 10000 gives 360-degree locking with the concrete, which gives strength of up to 10,000 psi with the concrete. Micro-alloying with high value elements gives a better rust-proof quality and gives this rebar capability to bear 28 percent more weight. Kamdhenu NXT’ is the next generation high-end interlock steel TMT bar which has a unique characteristic to make new engineered reinforcement structures and smart architectural concepts more robust by providing 2.5 times stronger concrete-steel interlock.

How do you assess the market growth of steel bars in future?

The demand for steel bars is recovering and there is enough latent demand to power the growth of the sector for now. The governments push on infrastructure in various sectors will also boost the demand for steel bars in the long run. The pandemic has for one boosted the demand for housing and there will likely be a boom in construction of residential units. Considering all these, the market growth for steel bars looks promising.
