Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) highlighted its ongoing efforts to transform the construction equipment industry at BuildTech Asia 2025, demonstrating its electrification journey in Singapore and other Asian markets. Using the theme “Electrify Your Business,” Volvo CE demonstrated its commitment to greater sustainability through its electric machines, which are revolutionising construction operations throughout the region.
Singapore became the first Southeast Asian country to receive Volvo CE’s electric construction equipment in 2023, a significant step towards sustainable construction. Today, Volvo CE continues to lead the transition to electric machines, and the company used the BuildTech Asia 2025 event to demonstrate its progress throughout Asia.
The ECR25 Electric compact excavator was displayed at the event, and the company was promoting its other electric machines that are available across Asia, including:
- The L25 Electric compact wheel loader combines proven performance with zero emissions and low noise, making it ideal for environmentally sensitive areas.
- The 20-ton EC230 Electric excavator offers the same performance as its diesel counterpart but with the added benefits of zero emissions and lower operational costs
- The L120 Electric wheel loader is designed for demanding applications. It provides powerful performance with zero exhaust emissions and near-silent operation.
- Volvo CE’s electric construction machines are available in China, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea. They represent part of Volvo CE’s commitment to sustainable construction solutions, offering zero emissions, reduced noise, and lower operational costs compared to traditional diesel-powered equipment.
Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG): a game-changer for Singapore’s construction industry
Volvo CE’s presence at BuildTech Asia 2025 was especially significant for Singaporean businesses, as the Energy Efficiency Grant (EEG) is now available to assist construction companies in transitioning to energy-efficient equipment. Visitors to Volvo CE’s booth learnt more about how the ECR25 Electric, L120 Electric, and L25 Electric qualify under the EEG, investing in electric.

Jaetack Lim, Head of Market East, Volvo CE, says, “BuildTech Asia 2025 is an important platform for Volvo CE to engage with industry leaders and showcase the future of construction equipment. With the support of initiatives like the EEG grant, businesses in Singapore now have an unprecedented opportunity to transition to energy-efficient and environmentally friendly machinery. Our electric machines not only help reduce emissions but also improve operational efficiency, making sustainable construction more accessible and financially viable.”
Innovation at BuildTech Asia 2025
Volvo CE provided an immersive booth experience to visitors at BuildTech Asia 2025, with the ECR25 Electric compact excavator displayed alongside an excavator simulator, allowing attendees to conduct a hands-on trial.
The booth’s visual presentation featured a front backdrop displaying Volvo CE’s electromobility range, complete with a garage setting and EEG-qualified machines.
The Volvo CE booth also included a Services Corner, which showcased the My Equipment App, a user-friendly web application for monitoring the status of your electric machines. It enables operators to easily monitor critical data such as battery charging status and power consumption from any location, at any time.
