Contractors in road building are looking to get greater efficiency from their operations.
Dimitrov Krishnan, Head of India, Volvo CE

I ndia is home to the world’s second largest road network. However it is in need of significant repair and development. A strong program of upgrading and construction work is expected in the coming years as the government pursues its policy of advancing the country’s infrastructure. Road building companies in India are looking for greater efficiency from their latest purchases to get better value for money. Construction equipment manufacturing major Volvo CE doesn’t want to miss this opportunity.

“Contractors in road building are looking to get greater efficiency from their operations,” Dimitrov Krishnan, Head of India for Volvo CE said. “We will have new products coming in 2016, both for this application and others as we continue to build our product range and help India meet its ambitious growth targets through the introduction of ever-more efficient equipment.”

Two of the popular Volvo CE units for road building are the SD110 and DD100 compactors. “With operating weights of 11,125 kg and 10,250 kg respectively, the units offer exceptional fuel efficiency and higher levels of reliability, allowing them to get more job done over a longer period of time,” Dimitrov said.

Focus on mining efficiency
With the Indian government targeting annual coal production of 1 billion tonnes by 2020, pressure is building on mining operators to improve both their productivity and output. To meet this need, Volvo CE has recently introduced its heavyweight EC750D excavator.

The powerful unit under 75-tonne category is already available in the Indian market. EC750D excavator is already attracting strong interest from the mining industry where the unit’s fuel efficiency and load-handling capability will deliver class-leading productivity, the company said.

The EC750D was displayed at the recently concluded EXCON alongside two new models from Volvo Trucks’ FMX range, both of which are being specifically targeted at the mining industry.

“The EC750D works in harmony with our range of FMX models from Volvo Trucks. With this heavy-duty excavator, miners will be able to load their trucks faster thereby enhancing production and optimising fleet utilisation,” Dimitrov said. “Volvo offers not only some of the best and most productive machinery in the industry, but both Volvo CE and Volvo Trucks offer a comprehensive sales and support network across India to deliver the highest possible levels of customer service.”

The driving force behind the EC750D is the powerful Volvo D16 Tier 3 engine, which has been significantly updated in recent times. It delivers increased horsepower and fuel efficiency and also has a robust design to ensure a low total cost of ownership. In India Volvo CE is backing the engine with a hefty 10,000 hour warranty as standard.
The first six EC750D machines in India have been delivered to M/s BGR Mining and Infrastructure Pvt Ltd – one of the largest private mining contractors in India. Further machines will be arriving in the country in the coming weeks.
