Please walk us through OTC daihen india’s journey till now.
Daihen Corporation Japan incepted the Indian representative office in Gurgaon in 2007. Later in 2011 Daihen Corporation subsidiary sales company was established in India with name of OTC Daihen India Pvt. Ltd.

What are your thoughts on automated welding and intelligent welding technology (IWT)?
Automated welding always banks ona fixed part/fixed area/fixed application, where the machine cannot decide the desired parameters by themselves. Man handling or intervention will always be needed in this scenario. Whereas in intelligent robot welding systems, the machine is capable to taking decisions. This functionality is enabled by the robotics system parameter which works in tandem with the intelligent sensor attached on the robot system. OTC’s robotic system consists of laser search and tracking sensor which is equipped with adaptive welding features.

What about Industry 4.0?
OTC offers specific solutions to support the Industry 4.0 initiatives. These solutions improve the rate of production, quality and helps in data analysing process.

Is robotic welding ‘inevitable’? Where does it stand with regards to conventional welding processes?
We cannot say that each and every place robotic welding is feasible. Sometimes the pertinent issue is the ROI in comparison to manual welding. But with the industry focus on automation as also the affordability of these technologies there is chance to convert the manual operations into fully automated processes.

Is the Indian robotic welding industry on par with the international countries?
Honestly the robotic welding industry in India is still premature compared to advanced countries. But in the next 5-7 years will be the trend may change. We hope during this tenure, Indian Market will give due focus on elevating their respective welding processes to global standards with the use of robotic welding and special purpose machines.

How do you forecast your company’s future in terms of welding operations?
We recently celebrated the 100th anniversary of OTC Daihen Corp. Way back in 1919 Daihen Corp. began business in Japan as Osaka Transformer Co. Ltd., manufacturing power transformers. It started producing electric welding machines in 1934 and arc welding robots in 1980. Our strength is single systems source wherein we manufacture and supply single contact systems for robotics welding like robots for handling and welding, laser sensors, positioners, sliders, different kind of power sources for various kind of welding application, torches, consumables etc. We hope that the Indian customers will definitely take the advantage of OTC Daihen Welding products to increase their business and competitiveness in quality and productivity.
