Scania, one of the leading manufacturers of heavy trucks, buses and coaches and industrial and marine engines, has handed over the first R 500 6X4 Puller tractor unit to its customer Agarwal’s Carrier Corporation of India (ACCI).
According to a statement released by the company, “This is in line with our commitment, following the launch of the on-road haulage segment, to focus on providing reliable, fuel-efficient transport solutions to customers. We believe this is first step towards achieving our goals and providing the right transport solutions for the Indian market.”
The Scania R 500 6×4 is a heavy duty tractor-unit that is called “King of the Road” across the global market. It is powered by the best-in-class 500 hp V8 engine, offering a high low-speed torque rating, essential for super over-dimensional cargo (ODC) transport. “With the automated gear changing system, Scania Opticruise, it will be the first vehicle of its kind on the Indian market to carry super ODC across the country under the most demanding of highway conditions,” the company claimed.
Scania products can bring through total cost of ownership (TCO) and are increasingly appreciating the TCO concept.
Expressing his satisfaction with the results of the trail runs, Gurdeep Singh, Operational Manager, ACCI said, “Scania R 500 tractor unit are excellent technical-masterpieces and will create a revolution in the ODC market.”
