Innovations“In last 2-3 years many interesting innovations have been done to check the quality of water for usage for drinking as well as agriculture purpose. The fore most I must say is the mobile application called KCWaterBug which provides live information about the water quality so that the users can make best of the information as far as usage is concerned. This has been successfully done in US,” Vivek says about the innovations globally.
Speaking about the innovations in India, Vivek said, “In India rooftop rain water harvesting is gaining momentum which is proving great to save our downing water table. Many state governments have made it compulsory to have rain harvesting for new constructing of colonies and commercial establishments. Thirdly are the cycle run water pumps which are very useful for small farmers.    Pistons attached to the peddle pressurises water to flow out. This technique is very useful for under develop countries who cannot afford diesel or electricity run pumps to bring out the water or where electricity is yet to reach.”
Procurement practicesFor a company like Oswal Pumps, the buying is always into bulk quantity. That makes the procurement of raw materials directly from the point of origin. “This does not involve the distributor. The reason we enjoy best of rates which further reduces the final product cost and the same benefit is passed on to our customers. Every component or raw material first gets thoroughly inspected as per the specifications and norms and then sent to the stock yard.  Secondly with bulk buying there is always a buffer raw material in hand which results in prompt production without delay in dispatch. This earns goodwill for the company,” explains Vivek.
Crossing hurdlesVivek also talked about handling situations like breakdowns and shortcomings while dealing with projects. “Apart from government tenders, where we always meet the deadline, we are not into projects directly at present but our OEMs enjoys consistent supplies to carry out smooth execution of the projects.” In his concluding lines he says, “By 2020, we are planning to come into this foray too. We will begin by setting up of the big water projects with consultancy. Thus, it will provide complete end to end solution.“
