In the heart of India’s northern region, where the magnificent Chenab River meanders through the rugged terrain, two engineering marvels stand tall, all set to redefine the landscape of the nation’s infrastructure.
ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India (AM/NS India) – a joint venture between two leading steelmakers ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel – is proud to play a pivotal role in the construction of these two monumental projects – Chenab Bridge and Anji Khad Bridge, which underscores the country’s trajectory towards ‘Viksit Bharat’ envisioned by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
AM/NS India has strengthened its position as a reliable partner for India’s infrastructure development by successfully meeting specific steel requirements and navigating logistical challenges in these complex projects. Guided by the brand promise ‘Smarter Steels Brighter Steels’, the company’s dedication to innovation and customer-centricity positions it well for future contributions to the nation’s growth in a purposeful, inclusive, and sustainable manner.
Soon to be commissioned, both projects form integral components of the expansive Jammu – Srinagar – Baramulla rail line in Jammu & Kashmir, representing more than mere steel structures; they reflect the nation’s unwavering commitment to transform its infrastructure with indigenous prowess under the ‘Make in India’ mission.
A building block of ‘Viksit Bharat’
These projects are deemed of national importance to the country’s ongoing infrastructure transformation. The substantial supply of steel by AM/NS India – 100% for the Anji Bridge (~6000Mt) and 70% for the Chenab Bridge (~25000Mt) – reflects the company’s present and future commitment to national development.
A visit by AM/NS India team
AM/NS India team’s visit led by Chief Marketing Officer Ranjan Dhar was warmly received by the project and engineering teams at both sites. AM/NS India team was particularly acknowledged for their support and the timely supply of steel, which undoubtedly played a crucial role in the smooth progress of the projects. The company’s consistent reliability and dedication were recognised as invaluable assets to the success of the mega projects.
Chenab Bridge – The world’s highest rail bridge
Standing 359 meters above the Chenab River, the Chenab Rail Bridge is the world’s highest rail bridge. With a deck height of 359 meters (1178 ft) above the riverbed, the Chenab Bridge – being built by a leading infrastructure construction company – is taller than the iconic Eiffel Tower.
Anji Khad Bridge – India’s first and only cable-stayed rail bridge
Linking Katra and Reasi sections of the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla-Rail-Link, the Anji Khad Bridge, crafted by an Indian multinational engineering and construction company, is a result of innovation and adaptability and is India’s first and only cable-stayed rail bridge. The future approach supports the national push for cutting-edge infrastructure built for the future.
RANJAN DHAR, CHIEF MARKETING OFFICER, ARCELORMITTAL NIPPON STEEL INDIA (AM/NS INDIA), said: “We feel privileged to be partners in these transformative infrastructure projects. Our collaboration with esteemed public and private stakeholders exemplifies the strategic synergy needed to achieve the ambitious goals of ‘Viksit Bharat’. By leveraging each other’s strengths and sharing expertise, we are not just building infrastructure, we are building a more self-reliant and prosperous India for generations to come.”
