Nova Formwork System from Wonder Moldplast Pvt Ltd is a modular plastic shuttering system used for all kinds of construction requirement. It is successfully being used for slab formwork. In order optimise the reusability, the company introduced Nova Framex system in 2015. Here, the company’s Managing Director Vikas Mittal explains the USPs of plastic modular formworks.

What is Nova formwork system?
Nova formwork system is a plastic modular formwork system which we started manufacturing in India in 2011. It is a very light weight and yet robust system having many advantages over the conventional formwork used in the market. It works out economical as it can be reused more than 100 times and is very easy to install and remove thus saving a lot of time and labour. It has a non sticky surface with a good chemical resistance and so it gives a very good finish to the concrete surface saving on plaster cost.

You have 2 systems and your latest system is Nova framex, can u tell us more about it?
Nova Framex system was introduced by us in 2015 as we felt the need of optimising the reusability compared to our earlier ABS system. This system is a combination of plastic and light weight steel tubes. The handling at sites in India is very rough and so we needed to give a system which is nearly unbreakable. We developed a particular plastic compound in our compounding facility to make it near to unbreakable but anything which has to be made with high impact strength it turns out to be flexible. We added light weight steel tubes to the design making it stiffer to handle concrete pressure of nearly 6 tonnes per sq.mtr. It can be locked with pins and wedges which are also in plastic. At a few sites we have received a feedback that they have used it for around 160 to 180 repetitions.

Which are the sectors where Nova plastic formwork is being used?
It is being used in housing high rise constructions, commercial buildings, road projects, drainage projects, railway projects, bridges and low cost housing. We are increasing our presence in the infrastructure projects as we feel that there is a lot of scope in this sector as our government has taken some firm steps for infra development.

What are the other products you manufacture other than formwork?
We are a 40-year old family group into manufacturing of plastic products like plastic moulded furniture and crates, plastic raw materials like compounds and master batches, plastic double wall corrugated pipe for sewage and construction, plastic twin wall sheets and boards and plastic formwork and scaffolding accessories. There are a few more products which would be launched for the construction industry shortly.
