TELECRANE® Radio Remote control systems for EOT cranes

These systems increased productivity as the cranes are no longer operated from the cabin but rather from any convenient location at the floor level, thus eliminating the need for a full time crane operator. Maneuverability is improved, particularly high precision maneuvers as the operator is no longer obliged to remain in the cabin and becomes free to position himself in the best possible vantage point. In addition, the operator no longer depends on a second person to signal him, which sometimes leads to confusion.

Portable lightweight transmitters may be worn in a belt; even smaller ones can be held in hand. Their controls replicate crane cabin or pendant controls.

The hand held pushbutton type system is suitable for operating floor operated pendant controlled as well as cabin operated master controlled cranes. Generally in cabin operated cranes 4/5 speed steps are provided on the master controller for speed control but in practice only one or two notches are used by the operator. It is not necessary to bring all the speed steps on the remote.
For example if cabin has 5 step control, the user can opt for single step or 2 step or 3 step control for the remote operation. Therefore speed steps have to be specified for remote based on operational requirements. Upto 5 step control can be provided in pushbutton type system for 3-motion (MH/CT/LT) Cranes and upto 3 step control for 4-motion (MH/AH/ CT/LT) Cranes. We have various models namely F21-E1B (for 3-motion cranes), F24-BB (for 4-motion cranes) & F24-10D with 2-step pushbuttons (for 4-motion cranes).

Shoulder held transmitter with joysticks for crane shall be replica of the crane controls provided by you for the cabin. The joystick will have speed steps in each direction. The other functions shall be carried out through push buttons/switches provided on the transmitter. This type is of system is used to operate cranes in steel plants where precise load positioning is required.

Models F24-60 with shoulder held joystick type transmitter are designed for 4-motion (namely Main Hoist, Aux. Hoist, Cross travel & Long travel).

The weight and size of our transmitter are about 860gms and 220x110x90 mm respectively.

The transmitter of our system has 2 dual joysticks with which it is possible to have proportional control of the two motions. Any two motions can be operated through each joystick. Let us say that joystick no 1 operates main hoist up/down motion and long travel forward/reverse motion. If this joystick is moved at 45 degrees between Hoist UP and LT forward motion, you will be able to operate both the motions at the same time with proportional speed. Each joystick can offer upto 5 speed steps and the demarcation between the steps can be clearly felt.

The dual joystick system is much easier for the operator to use it. When hoisting the joystick has to be lifted up, when lowering the joystick has to be lowered down. Similarly for cross travel and long travel motions the joysticks have to be moved to right or left horizontally. These joysticks are interchangeable. Hence the user can have fewer inventories of spares.

The sensing of ‘0’ position of joysticks are with optical couplers unlike in the case of spring return joysticks, where there is always a possibility of error in judging the ‘0’ position.

The receiver has a suitable lamp indication to indicate that the communication between the transmitter and receiver has been established.

For floor operated cranes, the remote control system can be directly interfaced but when cabin operated cranes are to be converted to remote operation an interface panel is required to be provided.

Being TELECRANE’s sole dealers we have access to their latest technology. Our systems are PC programmable. The programming is done as per crane electrical drawings at our premises. In case of complicated cranes there could be a substantial reduction in interfacing cost and a big saving for crane manufacturer.

The system are supplied with nylon fiber housings, which have following advantages:
•      Best suited for uninterrupted radio signals
•      No possibility of signal being grounded
•      Bad conductor of heat
•      Light-weight but sturdy
•      Very easy to install
•      No corrosion
•      Dust proof

Apart from EOT cranes, there are several other applications like multi line radio remote communication systems for PC/PLC operated equipment, furnace doors, conveyor systems, Stacker Re-claimer Systems, Mud-gun & drilling machines, Transfer trolleys, cables interlocking systems, electric winch etc.

The systems are manufactured as per international standards and by a company holding ISO 9001 certificate. The company is the largest manufacturers of Radio Remote Controls having produced more than 1,50,000 units. More than 3000 systems are in operation in India.
