Normet has a wide range of waterproofing products used for the civil engineering and building industries. Depending on the requirement, we offer the right solution for waterproofing with our varied offering of waterproof coatings and additives, including integral treatments, construction and movement joint systems, surface-applied penetrative treatments, liquid-applied coatings and membranes, sheet membranes, and water plugging.

What are the advantages of sprayed concrete solutions?
Sprayed concrete (also called Shotcrete) is where concrete is applied using compressed air onto a surface rather than pouring or placing it in formwork. The sprayed concrete structure is self-supporting. The process can be wet or dry. Normet offers several products for both wet and dry products that have been used on mines, tunnels, and civil engineering projects globally in demanding applications. Products like super plasticisers increase the strength and flowability of concrete by allowing it to be made with 30 per cent less water. Alkali-free accelerators: speed up concrete setting time, are safer to handle and have a minimum impact on final strength and durability versus standard accelerators. Air-entraining admixtures: improve the workability, cohesion, and resistance to freeze-thaw degradation by stabilising the development of microscopic air bubbles in concrete. Fibre-reinforced concrete consists of short fibres mixed with concrete to increase its strength and structural integrity.

In addition, Normet also offers gunite, hydration control admixtures, pump line primer, early strength concrete admixtures, concrete bonding agents, and protective agents and cleaners.

How do you see the demand trends for waterproofing solutions?
Given the country’s focus on infrastructure development and increased government initiatives to develop smart city projects across the country, the waterproofing industry is expected to expand significantly since these solutions are widely required in infrastructure development. However, the Indian waterproofing industry is still nascent compared with other developed countries’ markets.
