SMC (Sheet Moulding Compound) manufactured by B.T.Composites Ltd, is a compounded, glass fibre reinforced composite material which primarily consists of a thermosetting resin such as polyester or vinyl ester. Additional ingredients such as fillers, low-profile components, cure initiators, thickeners, process additives and mould release agents are used to enhance the performance and processing capability of the material. SMC can be formulated to meet specific performance requirements of a particular application, such as fire retardancy, tensile loading or surface finish.
