Excon 2019 is expected to be a significant opportunity for us to showcase the evolution in the industry brought by IoT and Big Data as well. It will help bring the troika of Industry, Academia and the government under one roof to leverage these emerging trends.
What is your expectation from EXCON ’19?
EXCON is the biggest platform for players in the construction equipment industry to showcase their products and services. Anything linked with construction and infrastructure development, be it in terms of products, services, technology, automation, finance, access to global markets etc. are displayed at the show.
In the EXCON 2019, we are hopeful of witnessing a greater participation from all the large OEMs, importers and international associations. The five-day event will draw attention of over 70,000 business visitors. We expect about 1250 exhibitors, with 350 foreign exhibitors from more than 21 countries. Delegations from overseas will also be participating. All in all, we think, Excon is growing bigger, better, and exciting with every new edition.

From a technology standpoint, we expect EXCON 2019 to attract new talent, contractors, manufacturers and investors, thereby enabling them to witness the global benchmark set by various construction equipment companies through their exclusive products and offerings.
Tell us about the new products you will display at Excon?
As always, JCB will present an exciting and innovative line up of machines at this year’s Excon. We will showcase class leading product solutions which exhibit innovation in design, performance, efficiency and safety including the integration of digital technology in our products. The Theme of Excon this time is Smart i-tech India@ 75. Showcasing our digital focus, we will continue to build on our ‘Intelli’ series along with our exciting new range of technologies in Excon 2019.
We will also showcase the entire range of our world-class JCB products starting from the compact range such as Mini Excavator, Skid Steer Loader to mid-range machines such as Backhoe Loaders, Telehandlers, Tracked Excavators, Compactors, Skid Steer Loaders and Wheel Loaders. All these products have been designed and engineered to cater to the changing needs and increasing demand across different segments.
JCB will display its range of consumer products, parts and product support. Apart from this, visitors will get to experience world class technology in action at our stand in terms of Telematics and Internet of Things.
What distinguishes your products vis-a-vis the competition?

Our JCB Backhoe Loader comes equipped with 30 new innovative features, including 15 industry firsts, and five World’s first including AMT which is an Automated Manual Transmission called Easy Shift. The machine also comes with as an SOS switch, Economy and Power Mode, Guide me home, and Smart App machine Diagnostics.
Further, offering best-in class productivity, fuel efficiency and operator comfort have been significant focus areas in JCB machines. For instance, the ecoXcellence range of Backhoe Loaders is 10 per cent more fuel efficient in duty cycle along with providing an additional savings of 5 per cent in yearly maintenance cost. It also offers higher uptime due to quick identification of the problem with Smart App Machine Diagnostics. With the help of a blue tooth dongle which is paired with a mobile device, the service engineer can now zero-in on the machine fault. This greatly improves the equipment up-time as lesser time is spent on locating a fault.
What is the cutting edge Smart Technology featured in your machines.? How do your machines address safety and operator comfort?
JCB India’s commitment towards innovation in automation is also demonstrated through advanced telematics technology, JCB LiveLink. JCB LiveLink benefits customers in better fleet management, enabling remote monitoring and management of the machines, and has been a game changer in the Earthmoving and Construction Equipment industry.
Through this state-of-the-art technology, JCB has radically changed and improved the customer experience with its machines. LiveLink also provides an opportunity to customers to maximise their returns on investment through better management of their assets.

What is your outlook on the construction equipment market in India?
A significant financial outlay announced by the government in the recent union budget is a major move in bringing the much needed boost to the construction Equipment industry. The recently announced budget has made it conspicuous that the government is putting a lot of thrust on creating a rural infrastructure. This will boost demand for road equipment.
Roads & Highways will be a key growth driver for the construction equipment industry and critical to fulfilling the $5 trillion economy dream of India. It focuses on rural economy as the major contributor in the foreseeable future, with rural roads development projects being in the forefront.
With implementation of large-scale projects, including projects of national importance, the road equipment industry is on a path to gain momentum. Further, new growth drivers such as interlinking of canals, railways, mining, and real estate are going to push the sales and utilisation of road equipment
