Globally, innovations are taking place in the area of cost-effective substitutes to plywood or particle partitions with superior fire, termite or moisture resistant properties.
 Satyen Patel, Managing Director Sahyadri Industries Limited talks about the company, the range of products that the company offers, the procurement and the payment practices followed at Sahyadri.   Sahyadri Industries Ltd (SIL) offers following range of products in building material industry:ECOPRO Fibre Cement Boards – wood free, light weight and asbestos-free alternative to conventional materials. Patel adds, “With a host of applications to put in use in varied areas, makes it a ‘multi-beneficial, multi-functional, multi-purpose board’. Architects, interior designers and builders can bring alive their designs on a variety of applications, while obviating the effects of global warming. Some of the applications are partitions, mezzanine application, roof underlay, ceilings, dry walls, panelling, cladding or facade, designer boards and planks.”
In case of Cemply which are flat sheets are manufactured in various sizes and thicknesses and conform to latest IS – 2096 – 1992 specifications. Cemply flat sheets find many applications in interior designs and also for exterior use in industrial, commercial, and residential construction.
Advantages SahyadriSpeaking about why the industry should buy products of Sahyadri, Patel said, “ The availability of our products through the wide spread network, having 5,000 dealer network across the Western, Southern and Eastern  parts of India with 5 state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities with the capacity of 6 lacs tonnes per annum makes us reach all over India. Innovations in recent timesWhen asked about the innovations in the areas of construction, Patel was quick to add about the cost effective fast track dry wall construction systems. He says, “Globally, innovations are taking place in the area of cost-effective substitutes to plywood or particle partitions with superior fire, termite or moisture resistant properties. Also, the mezzanine floor application using fibre cement boards is an emerging trend.”
He further adds, “Green and Eco balancing construction systems to get carbon credits or prints. With our products, there is no use of bricks, sand, mortar and water required in construction. The product is made of 35 per cent of fly-ash, a waste by-product of thermal power stations.”
Procurement practices and payment concerns“At SIL we follow the practice wherein we check whether supplier product is suiting to our quality norms, consistency in quality. If these 2 things are met, then we consider that particular Vendor as our supplier. The next step, he has to meet our commercial terms.  This ensures final product’s quality and consistency in quality. For last 6 decades Swastik has remained the leading Brand in Western India and having good market shares in Southern and Eastern India,” shares Patel about the procurement practices followed at Sahyadri.
Concluding about the payment practices that are followed by the company, Patel said, “Based on goodwill and market reputation, we are fixing credit limits with our Channel Partners on agreed commercial terms. In states like Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and the parts of Maharashtra we are dealing with Channel Partners on advance payment.“
