In a significant milestone, the Hilti Group proudly inaugurated its state-of-the-art production facility in Vadodara, India, marking the culmination of two years of construction and the commencement of operations in August 2023.

The official opening ceremony highlighted the company’s commitment to technological excellence, environmental sustainability, and the well-being of its approximately 300 team members.

Giridhar Jambunathan, the CEO of Hilti Manufacturing India, expressed his satisfaction with the establishment of a top-tier technology production plant that aligns with environmental standards and prioritises the concerns of the workforce. The facility boasts modern workspaces, high-quality product manufacturing, and the integration of development and production processes within a single roof.

The Vadodara site solidifies its position as an integrated competence center for diamond products, encompassing saw blades, core bits, and cup wheels within Hilti’s global production network. Beyond production lines and offices, the sprawling 12,600 square meter facility accommodates development and design departments, along with dedicated product testing areas. The design of the plant reflects a forward-looking approach, allowing for future expansion to accommodate the company’s growth.

Sustainability took center stage in the construction of the facility, with a focus on reducing energy consumption and implementing a low-energy cooling system. The roof is equipped with photovoltaic panels that generate electricity, meeting one-third of the plant’s energy needs while simultaneously preventing overheating by casting shadow. An innovative indoor climate and humidity control system, already implemented in other Hilti plants, significantly slashes energy consumption for cooling by approximately 80 percent, achieved through the installation of over 70 kilometers of water pipes and chilled beams.

Hilti’s commitment to sustainability extends to seeking a DGNB gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council for the Vadodara plant. This certification is globally recognised as a benchmark for sustainable buildings, evaluating criteria such as sustainable production, innovation, and employee well-being. The company’s proactive measures underscore its dedication to creating not just a manufacturing facility but a holistic and environmentally responsible workspace.

Carl Hoffmann, Head of Global Manufacturing Electric Tools & Accessories, emphasised the long-term vision of Hilti in Vadodara. The plant serves as a testament to Hilti’s commitment to harmonising sustainability with a contemporary working environment. The company sees the Vadodara location as promising, with well-trained specialists providing a solid foundation for innovation through their materials expertise and manufacturing process knowledge. The long-standing presence of Hilti in India, coupled with this new plant’s capabilities, positions the company for sustained growth and excellence in the region.
