 V Raghunathan, Vice President –Technologies, Cera-Chem Pvt Ltd speaks about the progress of the construction industry in 2017, his projections about the industry and the key strategy to be used to achieve the set targets.

Construction Industry in India to grow at 7.4 %
Speaking about how the year 2017 will turn out to be for the construction industry, V Raghunathan, says, “The construction industry is a major contributor towards India’s GDP and directly proportional to the collective wisdom   such as cement, steel industries etc., with a human power of 33 million people. The technological enhancements will   increase the pace and Tempo despite the   shortage of construction sand, raw materials, and political disturbances as deterrents. This industry is likely to undergo a paradigm shift due to the fact of government’s ‘Housing policy for all by 2022’ .”

Speaking further, he said, “As the   Government is planning super support for developing untapped areas like, the development of townships and their associated infrastructure in new arenas, better future   trends and scopes are envisaged for the Indian construction industry. It is only a matter of time with the current buffer period posing to be a threat to be completely changed into a realm of frenzy activities ahead with renewed vigour and map for growth.”

According to Raghunathan, the current user friendly norms for FDI in 15 sectors including real estate and construction development gives a very positive platform for construction sector to be exposed to a wider economy. He says, “Updating its growth projection from the one it issued in April 2017, the IMF said in 2016 and 2017 India is projected to grow at a rate of 7. 4 per cent.”

Cera-Chem to have a positive organic growth
Sharing the projections that he has for the business, Raghunathan said, “Our business trend shows a primariodal growth path despite the lower CAGR trends. We envisage a positive organic growth with a minimum of 12 per cent overall viz-a-viz last year’s projected performance. We also feel the increase in high value low volume products making the balancing act with low value high volume products netting the effect towards positive side, increasing the WASP (Weighted Average Selling Price) perse.” He further stated, “This is based exclusively on the new constructions, repair and rehabilitation opportunistic sales as per answer number one and prolonged integrated construction network enhancement.”

Generating avenues will be the key
Sharing the strategies that will be used by Cera-Chem to achieve the set targets, Raghunathan said, “Generation of new avenues in the existing, futuristic construction practices along with new avenues in the place of repair and rehabilitation practices would do justice to this goal. With respect to the decorative products which also forms part of construction industries’ contribution, we are into a new set of wall coating products of its own kind which will play ‘prima ballerinos’ role in the coming days which are eco-friendly and promising towards acceptance by major target audience.”

Raghunathan further said, “Another arena would be dealing with liquid applied membrane which will turn ‘elasto-plastic’ post application and with enormous strength and flexibility will serve as an excellent waterproofing  membrane where the strains and constrains of conventional torching.”

He further added, “We firmly believe that the niche products as cited above along with coating products for marble and stones of high architectural value would also help us increase the reality of achievement of the set targets. Terrace flooring, anti-aging coating products, anti-root products etc., are also introduced to attain the extrapolated targets for the year 2017.”
