Pre-engineered building systems are the preferred choice the world over for large steel buildings like industrial sheds, warehouses, aircraft hangers, etc. They offer many advantages over conventional buildings like, speed of construction, better strength/ resistance to wind and seismic loads, excellent aesthetics with a wide variety of colour choice, better durability and corrosion resistance at a considerably lower cost than conventional buildings.

Advantages of pre-engineered buildings
Properly designed pre-engineered buildings are about 20-30 per cent lighter compared to conventional buildings. This is possible by sheer optimization of design parameters and consequent efficient usage of steel. Normally, primary structure members are tapered built-up plate sections of high tensile strength with large depths in the area of highest stress allowing higher load bearing with minimum usage of steel. Secondary structure members are light gauge (light weight) sheet material, which is cold-formed into “C” or “Z” shaped members. The low-weight high tensile strength flexible frames offer higher resistance to seismic disturbances and do not cause human and associated losses.
PEB system is zero maintenance and superior in strength. It is highly corrosion resistant & features an attractive appearance. Steel structures arriving at job site are in pre-fabricated and ready to install condition and usually do not require any onsite welding/ fabrication activities.
PEB system has protection against non-uniform weathering, excellent resistance to in transit corrosion and storage strain. This system reduces energy loads on buildings due to long term bright surface that helps to retain heat reflectivity – energy-efficient roof and wall systems.
Design
Each PEB system is designed separately and specifically to suit the individual case/ application and there can be no such thing as one common design suitable for all PEBs. Each PEB system is designed considering its dimensions (length X width X height), intended application or end-use, requirement of overhead cranes and/or mezzanine floors etc, geographical location (to determine wind loads and seismic loads) etc. This ensures an optimum design with maximum strength & durability of structure at minimum possible cost.
