JCB India launches its own domestically built world class, fuel efficient, state‑of‑the‑art, BSIII, 16 valve diesel engine to power its equipment range progressively.
According to the company, worldwide over 1,50,000 machines with JCB UK built engines are already proving their worth. In India JCB engines have already successfully clocked over 50,000 hours of rigorous testing in the most adverse climatic and geographical conditions, across various models. Over 600 machines in different variants are already working in India across myriad applications. The engines launched by JCB in India have been designed and manufactured along the same platform as the world record breaking Dieselmax engines.
At JCB India’s world class facility in Ballabgarh, approximately 40,000 engines will be produced per year starting April 2011.
Speaking on the occasion Vipin Sondhi, MD and CEO, JCB India said, “We are delighted to launch the BSIII compliant JCB engine ecoMAX in India. These world class engines are a testimony to the immense hard work put in by JCB teams from the UK and India working together. These latest technology engines, would offer immense fuel efficiency to our customers. The domestic production of JCB engines will enable us to provide the best quality product. We will immediately start powering our backhoe the 3DX with JCB engines and many other models in our range will follow. India plays a vital role in JCB’s global expansion plans and this development marks another step towards JCB’s growth in India”.
The JCB engines will come in the range of 76 hp to 150 hp and will be naturally aspirated, turbocharged or common rail. They will be pressurized by a high pressure rotary pump. The block, bedplate design and crankshaft dimensions are similar to the JCB Dieselmax engine. The cold side has features like 14.5 psi cooling system for increased cooling efficiency, fan belt auto adjuster, 6,000 hrs of belt life, oil change period and engine filter change period of 500 hrs each reducing maintenance cost, main filter change period of 1,000 hrs, state‑of‑the‑art Delphi fuel system.
Features on the hot side include a heavy duty cylinder block specially designed for off highway applications, aluminium alloy pistons for optimised cooling, centralised location of fuel injectors for even burning of fuel, four cylinder sixteen valves, deep bed plate design for improved stiffness, low noise and improved sealing. The engine can be put on full load directly, no running in required.
High fuel efficiency and low maintenance cost of these engines are two parameters which will make JCB machines driven by JCB engines give even better rate of return to the costumers. Our environment friendly engines with low noise and vibrations and longer engine life will add to customer delight. Further, the machines will now have a single point support for warranty.
Mr. Sondhi added, “Our dealers have been very enthusiastic about the engine. At various levels the service engineers in the dealerships have received comprehensive training on the JCB engine, to ensure they’re in the right stead to serve our customers. Parts for the engines have already been stocked at JCB warehouses and our dealerships. All JCB dealerships across India are now fully prepared to support the JCB engine.” n
